Role description
The Databricks Administrator is the hands-on technical owner of the organizationβs Databricks platform supporting enterprise data and analytics workloads. This role is responsible for end-to-end platform operations, security, governance, reliability, and cost management. You will ensure the Databricks environment is compliant, secure, scalable, and optimized to support analytics, BI, and AI/ML use cases across SDLC environments.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
β’ Hands-on Databricks administration (workspaces, clusters, jobs, SQL warehouses, repos, runtimes).
β’ Strong Unity Catalog administration experience.
β’ Proficiency in identity and access management, including SSO, SCIM provisioning, group-based RBAC, and service principals.
β’ AWS expertise, including IAM, S3 security patterns, KMS, networking basics, and logging/monitoring.
β’ Experience with automation and infrastructure as code using Terraform, CLI, and APIs.
β’ Solid understanding of lakehouse architecture, Delta Lake, and separation of storage and compute.
β’ Strong SQL skills with working knowledge of Python and/or Scala for troubleshooting.
Compliance & Governance
β’ Experience supporting regulated environments (FedRAMP, HIPAA, SOC 2, or similar).
β’ Familiarity with audit logging, evidence collection, data retention, and residency requirements.
Education & Certifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
β’ 7+ years of experience in cloud or data platform administration, including 4+ years with Databricks or similar platforms.
β’ Preferred certifications:
β’ Databricks Platform Administrator or Databricks AWS Platform Architect
β’ Databricks Certified Data Engineer (Associate or Professional)
β’ AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)
