Job Title: Design Engineer Location: Hybrid Remote (SF or NYC based) Hours: 40 hours/week Start Date: ASAP Duration: 6+ month contract Compensation Range: $165/HR W2 About the Role: We are seeking a Design Engineer to support the ongoing development and maintenance of our company website. In this hands-on role, you'll serve as a bridge between design and engineering, managing content updates, feature requests, bug fixes, and technical improvements to keep the website running smoothly and evolving to meet organizational needs. You'll work closely with cross-functional partners across Research, Policy, Communications, Legal, and Marketing teams to implement website updates while maintaining high standards for performance, accessibility, and user experience. This role requires someone who can balance technical implementation with design sensibility, moving quickly on operational requests while preserving the quality and integrity of our digital presence. Responsibilities: • Implement content updates, page modifications, and feature additions using React and Next.js. • Respond to technical requests from stakeholders, triaging issues, debugging problems, and deploying fixes in a timely manner. • Maintain and improve the website codebase, addressing technical debt, optimizing performance, and ensuring accessibility standards. • Collaborate on infrastructure decisions, deployment workflows, and CMS architecture improvements. • Work with designers to translate design specifications into production-ready components and pages. • Monitor site health, respond to alerts, and coordinate on security, CDN configuration, and hosting issues. • Handle urgent requests with tight turnaround times while maintaining code quality and following established workflows. • Create and maintain technical documentation for CMS workflows, component libraries, and deployment processes. • Support integrations with third-party services including analytics tools, form providers, and marketing platforms. Top Must-Haves: • Strong frontend development skills with expertise in React, Next.js, SCSS, TypeScript, and modern web technologies. • Hands-on experience with headless CMS platforms (Sanity experience is a plus) and content modeling. • Ability to work independently to scope, implement, and deploy web features from stakeholder requests with minimal oversight. • Strong debugging skills and ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues across the stack. • Knowledge of web performance optimization, accessibility standards (WCAG), and responsive design principles. • Comfortable with Git workflows, code review processes, and continuous deployment practices. • Experience working in cross-functional environments, translating non-technical requests into technical implementations. • Familiarity with infrastructure tools like Cloudflare, Google Cloud Platform, or similar hosting environments. • Attention to detail and ownership of the quality of your implementations. • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and provide realistic estimates for implementation work. Benefits: • This role is eligible to enroll in both Mondo's health insurance plan and retirement plan. Mondo defers to the applicable State or local law for paid sick leave eligibility
