Role description
Application Engineering - Developer Success Engineer / Crypto Services
Austin, TX (preferred)
Our Enterprise Software Client's Crypto Services team is seeking a Developer Success Engineer to join its App Engineering team. Help internal developers onboard to complex cryptographic services by refining design requirements, guiding teams through self-service resources, and improving documentation and tooling.
Monitor communication channels, triage questions, and connect developers with resources. Eliminate friction for developers using data-driven insights to drive process improvements, documentation updates, and tooling enhancements.
Expectations:
• Identify and resolve onboarding friction points.
• Develop internal tooling, libraries, and workflows that reduce support requests.
• Triage issues and collaborate with engineering teams.
• Guide development teams on design patterns and resources.
• Create and refine technical documentation and self-service resources.
• Measure and report key success metrics.
• Drive integration of Crypto Services into frameworks and workflows.
• Develop expertise in applied cryptography and secure protocol design.
• Provide protocol recommendations based on risk-based thinking.
• Follow team and Crypto Services engineering standards.
Qualifications:
• Proficiency in Java, including software architecture, API design, and debugging.
• Exceptional communication skills to simplify complex technical concepts.
• Proactive self-starter with strong systems thinking.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Grafana).
• Ability to support teams from junior engineers to senior management.
• Ability to context-switch between tasks with minimal direction.
Preferred:
• Experience enabling developer success through tooling, documentation, or platform enhancements.
• Understanding of security principles, PKI, mTLS, key and certificate management, and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Go, Python, or Shell scripting.
• Experience with cryptographic applications (HSM, encryption, data tiers).
• Previous roles in developer experience, platform engineering, or developer tools.
• Exposure to regulated environments or privacy-sensitive applications.
• Contributions to self-service platforms, onboarding automation, or developer portals.
