Job Title : DevOps Engineer Location: Edinburgh, UK (Hybrid) Contract Type: Contract Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) Role Objective We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure, and support scalable, secure, and resilient systems. The ideal candidate will collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and cloud engineers to enable continuous integration, delivery, and monitoring. This role requires strong problem-solving, scripting, and cloud expertise to ensure reliability, performance, and efficiency of applications and services. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated build, test, and deployment. Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation). Manage and monitor cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) ensuring performance, availability, and scalability. Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk). Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration of new applications and services. Improve security and compliance by implementing DevSecOps practices, vulnerability scanning, and secrets management. Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes. Drive continuous improvement in automation, deployment processes, and incident response. Ensure cost optimisation of cloud resources. Required Skills & Experience 8 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Cloud Engineering. Strong experience with CI/CD tools: GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar. Expertise in cloud platforms: AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation. Solid understanding of containerisation & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm. Experience with scripting & programming: Python, Bash, Go, or PowerShell. Hands-on with monitoring & observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, Splunk, Datadog. Knowledge of networking, load balancers, DNS, firewalls, VPNs. Familiarity with security best practices and DevSecOps approaches. Strong problem-solving skills, collaboration, and communication abilities.
