Luna Data Solutions is seeking a DevOps Engineer III for a long term hybrid contract opportunity in San Antonio.

• Long term contract, 12 months, can extend
• Provide senior systems administration, platform operations, and DevOps automation support for business IT and mission support environments.
• Operate, secure, monitor, and improve Windows, Linux, macOS, virtualization, cloud, container, endpoint, identity, and collaboration services used by a small IT team supporting a growing agency.
• Develop, maintain, and operate scripts, runbooks, source-controlled operational repositories, infrastructure and configuration artifacts, and repeatable procedures.
• Use scripting, APIs, git-based workflows, CI/CD practices, configuration management, and orchestration tools to reduce manual work, improve service reliability, and support secure change execution.
• Support Kubernetes and containerized services, VMware administration, and public cloud operations across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including monitoring, alerting, backup and recovery coordination, patching, vulnerability remediation, and operational documentation.
• Implement and maintain SOAR playbooks and automation that support security operations, incident response, evidence preservation, service restoration, ticket enrichment, notification workflows, and routine maintenance.
• Participate in migration, buildout, stabilization, and sustainment activities.
• Support secure configuration baselines, access controls, privileged operations, incident response support, audit evidence, technical transition materials, and knowledge transfer.
• Coordinate with internal personnel and approved vendors to execute work under internal priorities and security requirements.
Minimum Requirements
• 8+ years of senior systems administration, platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure operations experience supporting enterprise or government environments.
• 5+ years of hands-on administration of Linux and Windows server or endpoint environments, including patching, hardening, service troubleshooting, logging, and automation.
• 3+ years of macOS administration or enterprise endpoint support, including device management, user support, configuration baselines, software deployment, or security controls.
• 3+ years of VMware, vSphere, or equivalent virtualization experience, including VM provisioning, templates, networking coordination, snapshots, backup coordination, performance, and capacity.
• 3+ years of Kubernetes or container platform administration, including deployments, manifests, Helm or equivalent tooling, container images, RBAC, troubleshooting, and operational monitoring.
• 3+ years of Git based workflows, source control, branching, peer review, repository-based documentation, CI/CD concepts, secrets hygiene, and controlled change execution.
• 3+ years of scripting and automation using at least two languages or shells such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, Go, JavaScript, or similar, including use of APIs and scheduled automation.
• 2+ years of public cloud operations experience across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including IAM, networking concepts, compute, storage, logging, monitoring, and secure configuration.
• 2+ years of security operations automation or SOAR experience, including playbook development, alert enrichment, ticket or case automation, containment support, and integration of SIEM, EDR, cloud, or ITSM tools.
• 2+ years of support for security hardening, vulnerability remediation, incident response, service restoration, audit evidence, backup and recovery coordination, or regulated data environments.
Preferred Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Purview, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Google Workspace, or equivalent identity, endpoint, collaboration, and security platforms.
• 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, or deployment automation such as Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or equivalent tools.
• 2+ years of experience supporting SOC, incident response, digital forensics, threat intelligence, emergency operations, public sector, critical infrastructure, or 24x7 operational environments.
• 2+ years of experience with monitoring and observability, including logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, alert tuning, capacity planning, and service-level reporting.
• Linux, Microsoft, VMware, Kubernetes, cloud, SRE, security, ITIL, automation, or similar certification.
