Role description
β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ NO THIRD PARTIES PLEASE β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ Great opportunity for a strong DevOps Engineer that has a specific expertise with Elasticsearch. This is a fully remote contract role, and the initial engagement is 6-12 months with potential extensions. Job Summary: DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure, Elasticsearch, and APM clusters to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance. You will also work closely with our development and operations teams to integrate Elasticsearch, APM, and ES best practices into our applications and optimize its usage for various search and analytics needs. Responsibilities: Elasticsearch & APM: β€’ Design, deploy, and manage Elasticsearch clusters, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance. β€’ Develop and maintain Elasticsearch mappings and indices. β€’ Optimize Elasticsearch by working with development teams to tune queries, manage indices and ILM policies, and configuring settings. β€’ Monitor cluster health, performance, and security, and troubleshoot issues as they arise. β€’ Collaborate with development teams to integrate Elasticsearch and APM into applications. DevOps: β€’ Use tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to manage infrastructure as code. β€’ Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce errors. β€’ Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with the company’s standards and security policies. β€’ Participate in an on-call rotation for production issue support and escalations. β€’ May assume other duties as assigned. Required Skills: β€’ Demonstrated experience with Elasticsearch Cloud clusters and APM. β€’ Demonstrated experience with AWS services and using cloud-native tools like Lambda functions, or Cloud Formation. β€’ Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Kibana, Grafana). β€’ Proficiency in writing scripts (Python, Yaml, Json, UNIX shell scripting, or PowerShell). β€’ Knowledge of writing infrastructure as code using Terraform, Ansible, or Cloud Formation. β€’ Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts – VPC, subnets, security groups, network access controls. β€’ Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and working together with the team to solve problems. β€’ Able to write good technical documents and runbooks. β€’ Strong interpersonal and communications skills. Preferred Skills: β€’ Knowledge of Ansible Tower preferred. β€’ Proficiency in writing Python scripts, building custom operators, and hooks. Minimum Education, Licensure and Professional Certification requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer technology or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification – AWS preferred. Minimum Experience required (number of years necessary to perform role): 7+ years related work experience with AWS services and infrastructure. 5+ years of progressive experience in Linux system administration and architecture.
