Role description
DevOps Engineer Outside IR35 | 12 months | Active SC Helm | OpenShift | Terraform | Platform Tooling SR2 is working with a long-standing delivery partner on the major public sector project, supporting modern DevOps enablement across platform and product teams. We’re looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer with strong Kubernetes experience to join a specialist platform engineering function. This team acts as an enabler — helping application teams adopt DevOps best practices via reusable tooling, scalable platforms, and robust CI/CD. This is a 12-month contract, Outside IR35, and offers a chance to shape the DevOps culture of a critical Defence programme. Due to the quick turn around for this role, the client requires all applicants to currently have active SC clearance; unfortunately they cannot put you through this if you do not already have it. Key Responsibilities: Develop, improve, and maintain platform engineering tools and services for application teams Build and support CI/CD pipelines, containerised environments, and deployment workflows Support product teams in taking ownership of their services across the entire SDLC Contribute to standards, common tooling, and DevOps best practice across the DNA programme Work independently and confidently engage with stakeholders on requirements, feasibility, and improvementsEssential Skills / Experience: Kubernetes (3+ years), Helm, and strong containerisation knowledge CI/CD tooling and pipeline automation. Linux, Bash, and Infrastructure-as-Code experience Comfortable working across small teams with autonomy Excellent written and verbal communication skillsDesirable Skills: OpenShift, Terraform, Ansible, or other HashiCorp tools Familiarity with observability tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) Experience working with containerised services such as Postgres, Redis, Kafka, or Keycloak Previous experience with MOD delivery environments or YAML-based pipelinesThe Details: Contract: 12 months Outside IR35 Rate: up to £480 Location: Remote with 1-2 days required on a fortnightly basis.
