Role description
Job Title: Dimensional Engineer Job Description Join our team as a Digital Dimensional Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in configuring and maintaining digital metrology and data systems. Your work will support the safety, assembly, and customer satisfaction of over 2.8 million vehicles delivered globally. You will help digitize inspection requirements, gather and transform data from plants and devices, and report deviations through clear metrics and dashboards. This role is integral to real-time dimensional decision-making, forming a core pillar of our Industry 4.0 strategy in manufacturing and quality. Responsibilities Create Inspection Templates in PolyWorks© based on product engineering inputs. Configure digital Control Views within Templates for specific engineering requirements and manufacturing process datums. Manage changes to Inspection Templates and Control Views for engineering changes, root-cause analysis, or modified inspection plans. Set up data collection and ETL tools with accurate parameters for manufacturing device data. Develop Metrics and Insight Dashboards in Power BI©, linked to DataLoop© WebViewer, for reliable dimensional insights. Guide and educate engineers on using Power BI© dashboards, DataLoop© WebViewer, and other tools to improve workflows and vehicle quality. Ensure internal and external data formatting and compliance with data rules and standards. Lead resolution of dataflow blockages in collaboration with IT, Manufacturing Engineers, Process Engineers, and device vendors. Communicate the status of new templates, issue resolution, and requested enhancements to stakeholders. Essential Skills Manufacturing engineering GD&T Dimensional control Statistical process control Proven ability to learn new technical digital tools Ability to comprehend abstract digital information High attention to detail and persistence Fearlessness in raising data-driven concerns Effective communication skills with a range of stakeholders Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to articulate and apply SPC concepts Experience creating Power BI© dashboards using multiple data sources Experience with at least one coding or scripting language (e.g., Python, R, C#, SQL, VBA) Hands-on experience with PolyWorks© or equivalent 3D metrology/inspection software Experience processing or analyzing metrology scan files Knowledge of dimensional processes in high-volume manufacturing Work Environment This role is based in Warren, MI, with a hybrid work schedule (Mon and Fri work from home, Tue-Wed-Thur in the office). There may be infrequent travel required (less than 10% overnight). The position follows a business casual dress code and operates on a first-shift schedule from 8am to 4:30pm. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Warren, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $41.00/hr.
