eCommerce Behavioral Analytics Manager
ROLE
Are you equal parts strategic thinker and analytics powerhouse? Do you love discovering patterns in data and translating them into clear, compelling stories that drive real business decisions? If synthesizing user behavior into actionable insights sounds like your jam—and if Power BI dashboards, Adobe Analytics, and A/B testing make your heart skip a beat—this may be the perfect role for you.
We’re looking for a senior-level Behavioral Analytics Manager to work directly with our client’s internal team. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor and expert contributor, helping stand up and evolve a behavioral analytics practice that fuels smarter customer experiences, higher conversion rates, and deeper long-term engagement. This is more than a reporting gig—this is about leading strategy, standing up systems, and helping a client grow with confidence.
THE BONFIRE EFFECT (CONTEXT)
While this role is directly supporting a client, you’ll be part of Bonfire Effect’s Professional Services team—a trusted group of specialists and problem solvers embedded within our clients’ organizations. We bring our love of people, fearless creativity, and commitment to doing the right thing to every engagement.
Pull up a chair. Let’s start something.
A DAY IN THE LIFE (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
As an eCommerce Behavioral Analytics Manager, you’ll play a key role in building the client’s behavioral analytics program and translating insights into action. Your responsibilities will include:
Data Collection and Analysis
Track, collect, and synthesize behavioral data from multiple sources (e.g., website, apps, support logs, surveys) to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies that lead to actionable insights. Leverage tools capable of advanced data modeling, including platforms with AI-powered anomaly detection or pattern recognition capabilities.
Behavioral Insights and Strategy
Understand user motivations and actions through data. Create personas, journey maps, and conversion funnel visualizations, occasionally enriched by clustering algorithms or natural language analysis. Identify friction points and recommend improvements grounded in behavioral psychology, supported by AI-enhanced insight discovery where applicable.
Segmentation and Personalization
Segment users by behavioral traits and lifecycle stage using traditional analytics techniques and, where helpful, machine learning-based segmentation models. Recommend strategies for personalized offers, experiences, or communications; drawing on data signals and, optionally, predictive personalization tools.
A/B Testing and Experimentation
Lead the design and analysis of A/B or multivariate tests. Apply statistical principles to validate hypotheses and inform next steps. Optionally explore AI-driven test automation or dynamic experimentation platforms for optimization and targeting.
Strategic Collaboration
Partner with UX, product, marketing, and development teams. Translate complex data into clear, compelling stories and recommendations that influence cross-functional decisions. Use AI-generated visualizations or smart summaries to streamline communication and drive alignment.
Reporting and Dashboard Development
Build and maintain user-friendly dashboards in Power BI. Track key behavioral KPIs such as conversion, churn, and engagement. Automate workflows where possible, incorporating AI-enabled features like anomaly alerts, predictive KPIs, or smart narrative generation to enhance visibility and responsiveness.
Retention and Lifetime Value Analysis
Analyze factors that drive user loyalty and retention. Recommend data-driven strategies to improve customer lifetime value (CLV), leveraging forecasting models or churn prediction algorithms where beneficial to inform long-term engagement planning.
Compliance and Ethics
Ensure compliance with privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA) and uphold ethical data use practices. Remain informed on emerging best practices for responsible AI use in behavioral analytics to ensure transparency, fairness, and user trust.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED (QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS)
• 8+ years in digital or behavioral analytics, especially in eCommerce or DTC environments.
• Expertise in Microsoft Clarity, Adobe Analytics, and Adobe Target.
• Advanced Power BI skills (DAX, Power Query, dashboard design, integrations).
• Proven experience with clickstream data and ETL workflows.
• Understanding of UX principles and customer journey mapping.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and storytelling skills.
• Familiarity with SQL, Python, or R is a bonus.
• Certifications in Adobe Analytics or Power BI strongly preferred.
