Job Title: Engineer Software III
Job Description
Join our dynamic team to support the U.S. Missile Defense System through the development of Modeling and Simulation applications used in warfighter training and exercises, concept evaluation, developmental engineering testing, verification, and assessment. As a Software Engineer III, you will contribute to the Missile Defense Space Warning Tool (MDST) project, working alongside the WSS team. Your role will involve designing, developing, testing, documenting, and integrating features using C and other programming languages within a Linux operating system.
Responsibilities
β’ Design and develop software to model various Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) element capabilities.
β’ Interface with MDST customers and present technical briefings to stakeholders.
β’ Contribute to the software development life cycle, including analysis, design, code, test, and integration.
β’ Participate in agile software development methodologies like Scrum or Kanban.
β’ Collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel.
Essential Skills
β’ Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as C++, C#, or others.
β’ Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience.
β’ Demonstrated understanding of software development life cycle.
β’ Experience with agile software development methodologies, including Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
β’ Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
β’ Current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
β’ Experience with Atlassian Tool Suite, including Jira.
β’ Knowledge or experience in missile defense domain, infrared space surveillance, and modeling and simulation development.
β’ Ability and willingness to travel 10% for business needs.
Work Environment
This role is onsite full-time at Schriever Space Force Base, working in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) environment. You will be part of a collaborative team, contributing to the Warfighter Simulations and Services (WSS) Agile Release Train (ART)
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
