Job Summary
The Engineer, Software Quality – Principal is responsible for executing quality assurance activities to ensure compliance, reliability, and performance of healthcare software products. This role supports software development and validation processes, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and internal quality systems. The position involves cross-functional collaboration, risk management, and oversight of quality deliverables across the software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Conduct quality assurance activities to ensure compliant, high-quality software products and processes
Execute and support Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) activities, including defect lifecycle management
Perform manual and automated testing (functional, regression, UAT, etc.)
Author, review, and approve validation and quality documentation
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards and internal quality systems
Support risk management activities, including creation and review of risk documentation
Identify, escalate, and resolve non-compliance and quality issues
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project goals, milestones, and deliverables
Provide technical guidance and training to team members and stakeholders
Contribute to process improvements and implementation of quality best practices
Participate in audits, inspections, and quality system evaluations
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including leadership and project teams
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or a related field (less experience may be considered with an advanced degree)
Hands-on experience with SDLC processes and defect lifecycle management
Experience in manual and/or automated software testing
Strong understanding of quality systems and regulatory compliance requirements
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the healthcare, medical device, or regulated industry
Knowledge of cloud-based software applications
Familiarity with cybersecurity standards
Experience with Agile development methodologies
Prior experience with Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools
Previous experience in a Software Quality Assurance role within a similar environment
Work Requirements
Ability to work on-site or in a hybrid environment in Lake Forest, Illinois, as required
Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship (unless otherwise specified by the employer)
Ability to collaborate across teams and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Occasional extended hours may be required to meet project timelines
Salary/Rate
