Job Description: Engineering Analyst II (Data Governance)

Position Overview:
β’ The Engineering Analyst II (Data Governance) plays a key role in supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of data governance practices across the organization. This role focuses on ensuring data quality, consistency, and accessibility for asset-related information managed by the Data & Systems Strategy (D&SS) department.
β’ The specialist acts as a bridge between Asset Information Management, field operations, engineering, Technical Information Systems, and compliance teamsβdriving best practices in data governance and enabling a strong culture of data stewardship across all asset-focused functions.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Implement and monitor data governance best practices using established frameworks.
β’ Partner with business and technical teams to define data ownership, stewardship roles, and accountability structures for asset data.
β’ Lead data quality initiatives related to pipeline asset information, including profiling, cleansing, and remediation.
β’ Ensure D&SS data management practices are aligned with industry standards (ISO, ISA, CFIHOS).
β’ Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data lineage documentation.
β’ Create and manage governance documents, workflows, and digital environments (SharePoint) for asset-related nomenclature and processes.
β’ Conduct awareness sessions on data governance concepts specific to the pipeline industry and facilitate cross-functional working groups.
β’ Track, monitor, and report data governance metrics and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented controls.
Qualifications:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Information Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
β’ 4+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related discipline within the energy sector.
β’ Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and data quality tools.
β’ Familiarity with pipeline industry regulations (PHMSA) and data management best practices.
β’ Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills; ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Experience collaborating with engineering, operations, and compliance functions.
Preferred Skills:
β’ Experience with pipeline asset management systems, GIS platforms, and records management tools.
β’ SharePoint design/management experience; ability to build workflows and forms using PowerApps.
β’ Experience creating dashboards and reports in Power BI.
β’ Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) principles in asset-centric environments.
β’ Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail, especially when working with safety-critical infrastructure data.
