About The Role
This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy delivering client and industry driven solutions through our 5 core specialist Practices; Software Engineering, Data & Analytics, IT Operations, Change & Transformation, and Risk, Regulation & Compliance.
FDM is seeking a EDM Developer located in New York to support a project in the Financial Service sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 month but may be extended.
This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3 days per week.
About You
Enterprise Data Management β Data Governance and Market Data Mastering
We are seeking a skilled developer to join the clients Data Governance Technology & Master Data Management team. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize components of our enterprise mastering platform β driving data quality, consistency, and operational efficiency across the firm, with a primary focus on security reference data spanning multiple asset classes.
This is an opportunity for a technically proficient and self-motivated professional to make a meaningful impact on Clients data strategy β deepening expertise across governance frameworks, matching and survivorship logic, workflow automation, and vendor integration while working at the intersection of technology and investment operations.
Responsibilities:
β’ Design, develop, and maintain data mastering workflows using MarkitEDM or equivalent enterprise data management platforms
β’ Support end-to-end mastering logic for security reference data β including equities, fixed income, derivatives, and structured products β across multiple upstream vendor feeds
β’ Build and optimize data quality rules, survivorship logic, and golden record frameworks to ensure downstream data consumers receive clean, trusted data
β’ Integrate with industry data vendors (Bloomberg, ICE, etc.) and map vendor schemas to internal data models
β’ Troubleshoot production data issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes with minimal business disruption
β’ Perform ad-hoc data analysis and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
β’ Collaborate with Data Governance, Front Office Technology, and Operations teams to define mastering rules, resolve data conflicts, and onboard new data domains
β’ Contribute actively to team objectives in a collaborative, outcomes-driven environment
Qualifications:
β’ 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data mastering or MDM-focused roles within financial services or asset management
β’ Hands-on experience with Markit EDM or equivalent platforms
β’ Strong understanding of security reference and pricing data β including identifiers, corporate actions, asset classifications, and multi-vendor data sourcing
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required
β’ Proficiency in SQL, data modeling and ETL processes
β’ Familiarity with data quality frameworks, exception management workflows, and SLA-driven data operations
β’ Understanding of the financial services and asset management industry
β’ Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
β’ Strong communication skills to engage effectively across technical and business teams
β’ Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve technical challenges independently
β’ Exposure to cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Azure, AWS) or orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt) is a plus
β’ Desire to stay up to date with emerging technologies and contribute to the firmβs data innovation
