Enterprise Data Modeler (Contract) - Richmond, VA (Local Candidates Only)

Job Summary The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking an Enterprise Data Modeler to lead data modeling and architecture efforts for a new cloud-based data management platform. This is a long-term contract role (through June 30, 2026, with annual extensions possible) offering the opportunity to shape enterprise-level data strategy for one of Virginia’s largest agencies. ⚠️ Notes • :Local Richmond, VA candidates onlyOnsite interviews required (no exceptions)Must work onsite 2–3 days per weekContractor responsible for parking (through VDOT Parking Office or self-procured )What You’ll D o • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models that align with business needs • .Perform data profiling, analysis, and integration modeling to ensure consistency and quality • .Create canonical and Data-as-a-Service models, leveraging SOA for integrations • .Enforce data governance, standards, and best practices across systems • .Design and implement MDM processes, including reconciliation, deduplication, and metadata governance • .Collaborate with architects, developers, and stakeholders to align models with enterprise goals • .Contribute to strategies for data security, backup, DR, and compliance • .Work with advanced data technologies: Azure Synapse, SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks • .Write queries in SQL, Python, R, or Scala as needed .What We’re Looking Fo r ✔️ 10+ years of experience building conceptual, logical, and physical data mode ls✔️ 10+ years of data profiling, analysis, and integration model ing✔️ 10+ years of experience with canonical models, SOA, and MDM too lkit✔️ Proven track record enforcing data standards, governance, and metadata acc uracy✔️ Strong skills in data capacity planning, lifecycle management, and optimi zation✔️ Experience with data security, privacy compliance, and continuity p lanning✔️ Excellent communication and presentatio n skills Wage: $90-$100 per hour
