Job Description
The Epic Beaker Analyst is responsible for the design, configuration, and optimization of Epic Beaker workflows within and across specialty areas to enable reliable, efficient laboratory operations and revenue cycle performance. This role applies deep understanding of laboratory science, data integration, and order-to-cash processes to create scalable and compliant solutions.
The Analyst collaborates with laboratory leadership, technology, and cross-application Epic teams to ensure that all Beaker configurations support laboratory excellence, operational efficiency, and end-user experience. This role contributes to standardization efforts, governance models, and mentoring of other analysts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Designs and configures lab workflows and tests in application to ensure optimal customer experience
• Acts as support contact for the application's end-users
• Architect and validate cross-specialty templates (Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Molecular, AP)
• Partner with enterprise architecture and revenue-cycle teams to strengthen the digital chain from order capture through results, coding, and billing
• Manage validation protocols, regression testing, and change-control documentation
• Monitor operational KPIs (TAT, error rate, billing success) and implement system enhancements to improve experience and efficiency
• Troubleshoot challenging system issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive timely resolution
• Independently develops and executes comprehensive test scripts
• Ensures all build work is documented including decision logic, validation evidence to meet CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, and audit requirements
• Serves as a liaison between end users' workflow needs and Epic implementation staff
• Mentor team members establishing configuration standards and reusable components
Qualifications:
Required:
• 5 + years of Epic Beaker configuration experience with measurable improvements in laboratory performance.
• Strong understanding of specimen routing, result rules, and billing interface logic.
• Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary build teams.
• Deep understanding of regulatory and data-integrity standards in a lab setting.
Preferred:
• Experience integrating Beaker with automation systems or reference-lab networks.
• Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or continuous-improvement methodologies.

Work requires handling light and simple weight material and equipment. Visual activity requires the ability to tolerate prolonged periods of close computer screens. Work requires speed, accuracy and adeptness to operate in system application. Fast-paced work environment. After hours, weekend and holiday work will occasionally be required as determined by the Application Mgr to support software/hardware patches, upgrades, downtimes and potential disasters.
