Role description
Itβs an exciting time to join UKSBS as we transform our business to be the leading UK public sector business service provider. We aim to become a very different organisation over the next few years as we move to a modern multi-platform, digitally enabled organisation.
We now have an opening for an experienced Cutover & Hypercare Manager, to join our Strategic Client Onboarding team. The role provides hands-on project management experience as we build our internal capabilities and resources to support the smooth onboarding of new clients and customers.
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Onboarding, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end execution of the cutover process from legacy systems (including Oracle EBS, iTrent, and Integra) to Workday. You will work closely with key stakeholders including the Business Readiness Lead, Functional Area Owners, Data Migration Lead, and Technical Cutover Lead to ensure alignment and successful delivery of all cutover and hyper care activities
Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:
β’ Own and maintain the integrated cutover runbook, ensuring all tasks are sequenced, timestamped, and assigned to appropriate owners
β’ Lead command centre operations, including rota planning, escalation management, and live dashboard tracking
β’ Monitor entry and exit gates, ensuring readiness evidence is signed off and validated before progression
β’ Coordinate across workstreams to ensure alignment of configuration freezes, data migration cycles and access provisioning
β’ Oversee blackout period activities, including system freeze, data snapshot validation, and final access provisioning
β’ Ensure all cutover activities are executed within the compressed transition period timeframe, avoiding dual-system dependencies
β’ Activate and manage the Hypercare model, ensuring immediate transition to support structures post go-live
β’ Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement activities following cutover completion
β’ Liaise with Programme Leadership, Business Readiness Leads, and Functional Area Owners to ensure coordinated delivery and communication
β’ Support rehearsals and dress runs, validating sequencing and readiness for go-live
To do this role well you will need:
β’ Considerable, proven experience in managing large-scale ERP cutovers or system transitions.
β’ Strong understanding of Workday and legacy EBS environments.
β’ Expertise in runbook development, command centre operations and escalation protocols.
β’ Experienced in proactively identifying risks and managing complex cross-functional dependencies to keep the cutover plan on track.
β’ Skilled in leading cutover workshops, presenting readiness statuses and providing clear, calm leadership during high-pressure go-live windows.
β’ Experience in dealing with defect management on a large scale, involving the creation of backlogs, assessing work needed against other factors, scheduling work and implementing solutions. Excellent experience with leading and facilitating working groups in this area.
β’ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and align diverse stakeholders at all levels.
β’ Calm under pressure, with a strong ability to lead in ambiguous or high-stakes environments and negotiate, often with external clients.
β’ An emphasis on execution coupled with a solution-oriented mindset and a robust focus on driving toward a goal.
β’ Proven highly organised and structured ways of working.
β’ Industry Certifications and understanding of frameworks such as PMP, PRINCE2, or ITI, highly desirable
