Role: ETL Developer Location: Richmond, VA Duration: 11+ month Interview: In Person Only Hybrid work location - Consultants will be required to work on site 2-3 days per week. Job Description: Essential Duties and Responsibilities: We are seeking an experienced ETL Developer to design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines that move data from various sources to our data warehouse. You will work with a team of data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure data quality, transform complex datasets, and support our business intelligence efforts. The ideal candidate will have experience with ETL tools, data integration, and SQL, and will be passionate about building efficient and scalable data pipelines. Key Responsibilities:
Work with VRS business unit personnel, and other stakeholders to extract data from legacy systems and transform it into a format compatible with Workday HCM.
Define and document the mapping of data fields between legacy systems and Workday's data structures.
Ensure the transformed data that is ready to be loaded into Workday is accurate, complete, and adheres to data quality standards through various validation techniques.
Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into the data warehouse.
Work closely with the data team to ensure data integrity, quality, and availability.
Monitor ETL pipelines for performance and troubleshoot any issues or bottlenecks.
Optimize data processing workflows to ensure scalability and efficiency.
Document ETL processes and maintain best practices for data integration.
Identify and resolve data-related issues that arise during the conversion process.
Maintain detailed documentation of data mapping, transformation rules, and validation procedures.
Develop and run test cases and scripts
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of Workday's data structures pertaining to HCM module.
Hands on knowledge on Data Extraction, Data Transformation, Data Loading, Workflow Development, Performance Tuning, Data Quality Assurance & Documentation and Collaboration
Proven experience in working with ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, or SSIS.
Strong knowledge of SQL for querying and manipulating data in databases.
Experience in data integration from various data sources, including structured and unstructured data.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues in ETL pipelines.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure data quality.
Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and validate data accuracy.
Working knowledge with the following tools and technologies:
ETL process design, development and support
ETL tools such as SSIS or equivalent
Database Design and Data Modelling
T-SQL statements and stored procedures
SSRS and SSAS
Designing and implementing extraction, transformation, and loading data pipelines
Investigating data to anticipate any pipeline issues
Managing the maintenance of software
Working closely with data analysts on the ETL process
Troubleshooting and debugging database issues
Facilitating and training staff on ETL processes at each level
Working with stakeholders and managers to understand business goals
Implementing and updating new software
Designing and implementing SQL queries
Providing customer reporting
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or closely related field
Total 6 (six) years' experience in data conversion/ETL projects with at least three (3)years in migrating data from legacy systems to Workday HCM.
Previous experience in migrations working with Kronos, Cornerstone, and Workday is a plus
