ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Finance and Business Planning Manager partners closely with functional leads of all levels to provide strategic finance and planning support. This position plays an integral role in helping to drive accountability through activities such as financial reviews, planning, forecasting, ad hoc analysis, and budgeting support, as well as reviews of contract financial terms. This individual is highly analytical, an independent thinker, detail oriented, strategic, collaborative with exceptional partnership skills and able to support projects as needed.
Role Responsibilities
Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting (FP&A)
β’ Coordinate with respective teams to develop annual and multi-year team/function budgets by gathering and analyzing inputs to ensure timely completion and adherence to budget guidelines.
β’ Work with teams to help ensure areas stay within allocated budget by providing strategic support and facilitating informed decisions.
β’ Support teams in coordinating, monitoring and forecasting human capital planning and expenditures.
β’ Lead monthly and quarterly budget reviews with business leads, reviewing budget vs actuals, providing strategic insights on performance and forecasting, and facilitating discussions on upcoming business decisions with financial implications.
β’ Consolidate and synthesize financial and strategic insights from monthly cross-functional conversations to support the Sr. Director, Strategic Finance in gaining a comprehensive view of financial performance and forecasting across multiple entities and years.
β’ Inform and maintain forecasting models across multiple entities for annual and multi-year budgets, maximizing financial data from multiple systems to enable informed business decision and proactive financial risk management.
β’ Develop and tailor reporting and presentations for all levels of the business, including the Principal, to facilitate strategic insights and inform data-driven decision making.
Operational Finance, Systems & Controls
β’ Partner with the Accounting team to build and maintain standards in the financial management processes, structures and promoting financial integrity.
β’ Recommend, document, and assist with implementation of finance and accounting operational improvements.
β’ Collaborate with the Finance Systems Administrator and Tech teams to troubleshoot system issues, develop and implement reporting solutions, and enhance systems and process to improve efficiency and ease of system use.
β’ Partner with business owners and the legal department to execute scopes of work for relevant contracts, advising on financial terms and budget availability while also promoting financial stewardship.
Business Partnership & Cross-Functional Enablement
β’ Actively participate in functional team meetings and fosters a strong partnership with leadership/team members to maintain a pulse of daily and strategic business decisions, while providing financial insights and support as needed.
β’ Serve as a key knowledge stakeholder and participant in cross-functional projects, collaborating to improve business processes and ensure effective change management.
β’ Act as liaison to business partners by triaging inquires related to policies, expenses, and other financial matters, promoting financial stewardship and directing individuals to appropriate resources and points of contact for resolution.
β’ Respond to one-off financial requests from team members and assist with ad hoc projects
β’ Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
β’ Minimum 7-9 years of finance experience in financial planning & analysis, financial reporting, client service, or an equivalent combination of advanced training and experience.
β’ Proficiency in Workday or similar ERP systems.
β’ Experience building budgets and supporting teams of 25+.
β’ Proficiency using Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and SharePoint).
β’ Fluency in use of systems necessary to role (e.g., Salesforce, Tableau, Data Visualization/Analytics platforms).
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Workday Financials experience
β’ Budgeting and planning technology experience such as Workday Adaptive, Anaplan, Oracle Essbase, or other financial planning software

The salary range for this position is $145,500-$156,600. This is position is based in Pivotalβs Seattle, WA office.
This role is expected to have a duration of 12 months. This means that, absent some change, the position will end within that timeframe as defined in the offer letter. The limited duration of the position does not alter the at-will nature of the position or work at Pivotal Ventures.
