Overview
The Senior Data Analyst plays a critical role in driving data-informed decision-making across the organization, with a strong focus on financial analysis and project spend tracking. This position blends advanced data analytics skills with financial expertise to develop solutions, deliver insights, and support forecasting processes. The analyst will work closely with business stakeholders to track project spend (capital vs. O&M), identify variances, and support financial reporting needs.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Partner with business stakeholders to understand data and financial reporting needs, providing actionable insights.
β’ Manage monthly financial forecasting, reducing variances and identifying risks and opportunities.
β’ Track project spending and provide analysis on capital (CapEx) versus operating (OpEx) expenses.
β’ Develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and ETL processes in partnership with data engineering.
β’ Perform data cleaning, transformation, and visualization to uncover trends and inform business decisions.
β’ Provide expense and capital forecast reports; support SAP finance reporting transactions (cost centers, general ledger, consumption perspectives).
β’ Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations in Power BI.
β’ Write and optimize SQL queries to join and analyze data from multiple tables.
β’ Support business case development, workload prioritization, and strategic data initiatives.
β’ Interpret and explain technical data to non-technical stakeholders clearly and persuasively.
β’ Serve as a mentor and provide guidance to less experienced analysts; contribute to training initiatives.
Required Qualifications
β’ Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Analytics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
β’ Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analytics or financial analysis roles.
β’ Experience with SAP finance reporting transactions.
β’ Strong financial acumen, with a solid understanding of CapEx, OpEx, and general ledger principles.
β’ Proficiency in Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
β’ Advanced SQL skills, including writing and optimizing queries across multiple tables.
β’ Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
β’ Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure, AWS).
β’ Familiarity with data warehouse technologies (e.g., SAP HANA, Google BigQuery).
