Financial Data Analyst
Division: IT Infrastructure & Hosting Services
Fully Remote - Must be US based.
Overview
The IT Infrastructure organization is seeking a Financial Data Analyst to support financial planning, analysis, and reporting across all hosting-related activities. This role is critical to understanding, forecasting, and optimizing the costs of on-premises data centers, private cloud platforms, and public cloud environments.
The Financial Data Analyst will partner closely with engineering, operations, procurement, and finance leadership to deliver financial transparency, enable data-driven decisions, and support long-term infrastructure strategy. This is a fully remote position with high visibility and impact across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze cost drivers across on-prem data centers, private cloud, and public cloud environments
Provide clear insights into hosting cost trends and consumption patterns
Build and maintain monthly, quarterly, and multi-year forecasts for hosting charge
Track budget burndown and identify risks and opportunities versus plan
Use Apptio Cloudability to monitor, interpret, and report on public cloud spend
Analyze usage patterns to support optimization and forecasting efforts
Extract data from Microsoft SQL databases and transform it into Excel-based financial models
Develop scalable models to support scenario analysis and long-range planning
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, including variance analysis and executive summaries
Create cost transparency dashboards to support leadership decision-making
Assist in the development and maintenance of chargeback and showback models for internal business units
Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve utilization, and optimize infrastructure and cloud spend
Partner with technical teams to validate assumptions and savings opportunities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
2-5 years of financial analysis experience, ideally supporting IT or technology organizations
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and scenario modeling
Experience extracting and transforming data from SQL databases
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large, complex datasets
Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially when working with technical partners
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud financial management tools, particularly Apptio Cloudability
Understanding of public cloud pricing models (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
Familiarity with IT infrastructure concepts such as compute, storage, networking, and data center operations
Experience With Chargeback/showback Financial Models
Experience using Power BI or similar data visualization tools
Details:
100% remote - must be based in the US.
Pay: $35 - $60/hr. based on related experience
Pay cycle - weekly | medical, dental & vision benefits offered.
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:30am - 5:00pm (EST)
