Role description
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced FinOps Engineer to optimize cloud spending and drive cost efficiency across multiple cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and GCP. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise, financial insight, and automation skills to help manage, analyze, and reduce cloud costs while promoting a culture of cost transparency and accountability.
Tools & Technologies (Typical Stack):
• Cloud billing and usage APIs (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Data warehouse/lake platforms (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, etc.)
• ETL/ELT tools (dbt, Airflow, or custom pipelines)
• Data visualization and dashboard tools (Power BI, Looker, Grafana, Tableau)
• Version control systems (Git) for dashboards and metric logic
• Scripting and coding in Python, SQL, or similar languages
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor and analyze multi-cloud usage and cost trends to identify anomalies and drive resolutions.
• Implement and manage cost optimization strategies, including Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and resource right-sizing.
• Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reporting solutions to deliver visibility into cloud cost and utilization metrics.
• Establish, enforce, and maintain tagging standards and cost allocation policies to ensure accurate chargebacks and accountability.
• Educate engineering and product teams on FinOps best practices, fostering a culture of cloud cost awareness.
• Automate recurring cost management tasks and integrate FinOps tools into CI/CD pipelines.
• Serve as the Flexera One Cloud Cost Optimization (CCO) administrator and subject matter expert.
• Engage with the broader FinOps community (e.g., FinOps Foundation forums, Slack channels, and events) to contribute insights and adopt best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• 5+ years of professional experience, including 2+ years in a dedicated FinOps engineering role.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their pricing and billing models.
• Deep knowledge of cloud-native cost management tools and Flexera One CCO.
• Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
• Experience with scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or similar.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• FinOps Certified Practitioner or Engineer (or equivalent certification).
• Prior experience in DevOps or Cloud Engineering roles.
