Description Title: FIX Protocol Developer Location: Charlotte, NC Duration: 12 months Work Engagement: W2 Work Schedule: On-site Benefits on offer for this contract position: Health Insurance, Life insurance, 401K and Voluntary Benefits Summary: In this contingent resource assignment, you may: Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Software Engineering. Review and analyze complex multi-faceted, larger scale or longer-term Software Engineering challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors. Contribute to the resolution of complex and multi-faceted situations requiring solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that meet deliverables. Strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel. Required Qualifications: Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, education. Key Responsibilities: • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large-scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals Key Requirements: • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. • Professional software engineering experience (or equivalent combination of work experience, training, military service, or education) • Working knowledge of the FIX protocol session and application layers, message types, tag structure, and session management • Hands-on experience onboarding new FIX connections: certification testing, conformance, and go-live coordination with counterparties • Experience designing and building integration services and APIs • Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership • Ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and diagnose FIX session issues (sequence gaps, heartbeat failures, message rejections) • Familiarity with FIX log analysis and message-level debugging • Understanding of networking fundamentals relevant to FIX connectivity (TCP, TLS, firewall rules, extranet providers) • Familiarity with source control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing • Experience working with cloud infrastructure (hosting, deployment, monitoring) • General understanding of trading workflows — order routing, execution reports, allocations, confirmations • Familiarity with common FIX message flows (NewOrderSingle, ExecutionReport, OrderCancelRequest, etc.) • Experience coordinating FIX certification and UAT with external broker-dealers, exchanges, or ECNs • Comfortable working directly with counterparty technical teams to resolve connectivity and message-mapping issues
