Role description
Weβre building the future of AI-powered Observability to make monitoring truly effortless!
At OtterMon AI, we're inventing an entirely new approach to Observability -- one that natively eliminates the countless features, endless alerts, and ever-rising costs associated with enterprise solutions.
We believe the future of Observability must be automated, proactive, and affordable. No more tedious diagnostics, complex dashboards, or fine-tuning alerts.
We just need your help to turn that vision into a reality!
We're looking for a Founding Backend Architect (Senior level or higher) whoβs fluent in Python/Go and fired up about distributed systems, real-time data processing, and Observability. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with some or all of the following:
OpenTelemetry, Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, InfluxDB, and AWS-based microservice architectures.
This is a rare opportunity to join a Founding Leadership Team and shape the architecture of a fast-growing AI startup from the very beginning.
What You'll Do
Architect and build Python/Go-based microservices to ingest and process massive volumes of telemetry data.
Design systems for real-time statistical analysis and outlier detection.
Ensure all backend services are observable, scalable, and resilient -- because we're our own first customer!
Integrate with APIs from leading monitoring platforms (e.g., Datadog, Grafana Cloud, New Relic).
Use AWS tools like DynamoDB, SQS, Lambda, RDS, and Step Functions to build secure, event-driven systems.
Optimize data storage and retrieval patterns for performance at scale.
Collaborate closely with AI/ML engineers using LiteLLM, AWS Bedrock, and MCP to surface meaningful insights from telemetry streams.
Write clean, testable, maintainable code that sets the engineering bar high.
What You'll Bring
5+ years of backend engineering experience, including 3+ years writing production-grade Python and/or Go.
Deep understanding of observability stacks and telemetry pipelines (metrics, logs, traces).
Strong experience building microservices in AWS using event-driven or serverless architectures.
Expertise in REST/gRPC, Docker, and asynchronous communication patterns.
Familiarity with time-series data, statistical analysis, or anomaly detection workflows.
Passion for performance optimization, secure coding practices, and system design.
Self-motivation and comfort in a fully remote, fast-moving startup environment.
Nice To Have
Experience with LiteLLM, MCP, or other LLM integration pipelines
Prior work on developer tools, observability platforms, or AIOps
Why Join Us?
At OtterMon AI, you wonβt just be writing code -- youβll be defining the architecture and direction of a platform that makes life easier for Engineering, DevOps, and SecEng teams around the world. You'll work with passionate engineers, shape meaningful products, and build something that actually prevents outages instead of just reporting them.
About the Role
This is a remote-only position (U.S. preferred, Boston area ideal) with flexible hours, lots of autonomy, and plenty of exciting problems to solve.
Compensation is negotiable based on experience and preferences for salary vs. equity.
We provide healthcare, dental, and vision benefits for full-time employees.
We're an equal opportunity employer and celebrate diversity in all forms.
We are unable to sponsor visas at this time -- we appreciate your understanding.
Ready to escape the madness of large corporations and experience the freedom of an AI startup? Letβs talk!
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $100,000.00 per year
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
Benefits:
Dental insurance
Flexible schedule
Health insurance
Paid time off
Vision insurance
People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
Work Location: Remote
