Business Analyst β Fixed Income (Front Office | Buy-Side Preferred)
Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid: 3 days onsite per week required)
Engagement: Long-term contract

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join a major financial firmβs front-office Fixed Income organization. This role supports portfolio management and trading teams and works closely with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Portfolio Analysts, Risk, and Quantitative Research to analyze investment workflows, document requirements, and drive the delivery of front-office solutions.
Candidates with strong sell-side experience are welcome. Buy-side experience is preferred but not required, provided the candidate has meaningful exposure to Fixed Income markets and front-office stakeholders.
What Youβll Do
β’ Partner directly with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Portfolio Analysts, Risk, and Quantitative Research to understand front-office investment workflows, data usage, and tooling gaps
β’ Analyze, document, and optimize portfolio management and trading workflows, including portfolio construction, allocation, and risk management
β’ Translate business requirements into clear functional documentation for technology and quantitative teams
β’ Collaborate with engineers and product teams to support the delivery of portfolio management and trading tools
β’ Prototype and analyze data using Python, SQL, and Power BI to support investment decision-making
β’ Support productivity improvements through automation and the use of generative AI
β’ Provide day-to-day support to portfolio management and trading teams using internal platforms
β’ Participate in product delivery efforts from discovery through implementation
Required Qualifications
β’ 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting Fixed Income trading, portfolio management, or investment technology
β’ Strong understanding of the Fixed Income investment process, including:
β’ Portfolio construction and allocation
β’ Risk management
β’ Fixed Income instruments across asset classes
β’ Experience working closely with front-office stakeholders (Portfolio Managers, Traders, Investment Teams)
β’ Excellent analytical and documentation skills, with the ability to map complex workflows
β’ Strong communication skills across written documentation, presentations, and stakeholder discussions
β’ High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
β’ Technical proficiency with Python, SQL, and Power BI
Highly Desired Qualifications
β’ Bloomberg and/or Aladdin experience (highly desired)
β’ Buy-side asset management experience (preferred)
β’ Strong sell-side experience supporting Fixed Income trading or analytics
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
β’ CFA, FRM, or similar professional designation
β’ Prior experience in a trading, portfolio specialist, or front-office support role
