Role: Solution Architect, Utilities, Google Cloud Platform - need someone very qualified with Data Platforms Location: Fully onsite at client site in New York City (Tri-State area candidates only) Duration: 6month+ contract with potential to extend and/or convert Mode : Long Term Contract Interview: 3 Rounds, Phone, MS Teams, In-person Citizenship: US Citizen / Green Card Only What They Are Looking For: A highly experienced Google Cloud Platform Solution Architect with deep expertise in cloud architecture, data platforms, and utilities domain compliance. Must have strong leadership skills, ability to guide migrations, and hands-on experience with GCP services and modern data solutions. This role will focus on supporting our Energy & Utilities clients as they evaluate, leverage, migrate to, and build on Google Cloud. This role must be located in New York City or the tri-state area. What Will You Be Doing? Client Delivery β€’ Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and solution architect on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies, guiding client stakeholders through design decisions, tradeoffs, and migration strategies. β€’ Compare and contrast Azure, AWS, and GCP capabilities (cost, performance, compliance, analytics/AI) to support informed decision-making. β€’ Lead the architecture, design, and migration approach for client workloads into GCP, including hybrid and multi-cloud scenarios. β€’ Lead the greenfield build of modern data platforms that enable analytics, AI, and agentic solutions on GCP by developing architectures that leverage GCP services to support use case specific requirements. β€’ Understand key differences and overlap in modern data platform capabilities when considering Databricks to complement Google Cloud solutions β€’ Lead platform cost modeling to provide guidance on O&M budgeting and oversee efforts to identify and capture cost savings in existing capabilities β€’ Collaborate with data engineers, developers, and business SMEs to ensure architecture aligns with business goals and regulatory requirements. β€’ Provide hands-on technical guidance on cloud-native services (BigQuery, BigTable, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Looker, Vertex AI, etc.) as well as security, networking, and governance. β€’ Understand the connection between data governance, data engineering, analytics/AI, and agentic solutions from a holistic delivery perspective. β€’ Act as a trusted advisor to client leadership, driving alignment across business and IT stakeholders. Practice Development β€’ Contribute to the Energy & Utilities practice and Technology & Experience Discipline by developing methodologies, accelerators, and best practices for GCP adoption in regulated utility environments. β€’ Promote thought leadership around cloud modernization, data platforms, and AI/ML use cases enabled by GCP. β€’ Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative, learning-oriented culture Business Development β€’ Partner with account teams to understand business needs and shape them into technical roadmaps, proposals, and solutions. β€’ Contribute to client pursuits as a GCP SME, including crafting architecture options, estimates, and risk assessments. β€’ Build and maintain a professional network in the utilities and cloud ecosystems, strengthening reputation in the market. Requirements: β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (advanced degrees a plus). β€’ 8+ years of work experience, including at least 3+ years designing and implementing cloud solutions on GCP. β€’ Strong understanding of cloud data and analytics architectures, including batch and streaming data pipelines, data warehouses (BigQuery), and AI/ML services (Vertex AI, Agentspace). β€’ Experience with Azure cloud services and Databricks platform, ability to objectively evaluate Azure vs. GCP tradeoffs inclusive of Databricks deployments β€’ Proven success leading large-scale cloud migrations or platform builds (design through implementation). β€’ Familiarity with regulatory/compliance frameworks relevant to utilities (e.g., NERC CIP, data residency, security standards). β€’ Possess at least one Google Cloud Professional certification: Data Engineer, Cloud Database Engineer, Cloud Architect, Machine Learning Engineer β€’ Strong communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and business stakeholders. β€’ Ability to document technical architectures and explain approach and rational to technical resources. β€’ Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities. β€’ Willingness to travel to client sites as needed (up to 50–75% annually). Nice to have: β€’ Experience working with large, regulated utilities (familiarity with NERC CIP, PSC, and related compliance requirements). β€’ Databricks certification (e.g., Data Engineer Associate/Professional, Machine Learning Associate/Professional).
