Role description
Location: Hybrid -Β Atlanta, GAJob Summary
Under limited supervision, coordinates, designs, and secures computer databases to store, track, and maintain a large volume of critical business information. Serves as the highest advanced-level subject matter expert, providing authoritative guidance for professional staff and may also serve in a lead role.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to automate monitoring, troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) across hybrid, multi-cloud, and microservices architectures.
Key Responsibilities1. Monitoring & Observability
β’ Configure, maintain, and optimize monitoring solutions using Dynatrace.
β’ Enable end-to-end visibility across infrastructure, systems, and applications.
β’ Develop dashboards, alerts, and health checks to ensure system health and reliability.
β’ Monitor service performance and availability while tuning alert thresholds to minimize false positives.
1. Infrastructure Systems Monitoring
β’ Monitor Windows/Linux servers, virtual environments, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
β’ Support monitoring of databases, middleware, and network components.
β’ Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams to identify trends and capacity requirements.
β’ Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact production.
1. Application Monitoring
β’ Use Dynatrace to monitor application performance and transaction flows.
β’ Support synthetic monitoring and Real User Monitoring (RUM).
β’ Partner with application teams to ensure complete monitoring coverage.
β’ Assist in troubleshooting application and infrastructure performance issues.
1. Incident Support
β’ Participate in incident response activities related to performance and availability.
β’ Provide monitoring insights during troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
β’ Identify and eliminate monitoring gaps.
1. Continuous Improvement
β’ Enhance monitoring standards and documentation.
β’ Recommend improvements to monitoring configurations and alert strategies.
β’ Support integration of monitoring tools with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms.
RequirementsEducation
β’ Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience
β’ 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure support, or monitoring roles.
β’ 5+ years of hands-on experience with Dynatrace or comparable Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools.
Technical Skills
β’ Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux servers.
β’ Experience with VMware and virtualized environments.
β’ Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
β’ Basic networking concepts including DNS, TCP/IP, and load balancing.
β’ Experience with PowerShell or Bash scripting (preferred).
β’ Familiarity with Kubernetes and container monitoring.
β’ Knowledge of ITIL practices and experience supporting regulated industries such as healthcare or financial services.
