Role description
GenAI Application Developer ? Remote (Quarterly travel to Gaithersburg, MD) ? Up to $48-$58/hr (W2) | $110K conversion ? U.S. work authorization required (Public Trust eligible) Overview We’re hiring an early-career GenAI Application Developer to build AI-powered features for an AWS-based contact center platform (Amazon Connect). This role focuses on developing conversational AI solutions (voice/chat bots), integrating AWS services, and supporting intelligent automation that improves customer experience and agent efficiency. You’ll work alongside senior engineers and designers to build secure, scalable applications using tools like AWS Lambda, Lex, Bedrock, and OpenSearch. What You’ll Do - Build and maintain Amazon Connect contact flows for voice and chat - Integrate Lex V2 bots for self-service and call deflection - Develop backend services using AWS Lambda (Python) - Support AI features using Amazon Bedrock (LLMs) and retrieval-based systems (RAG) - Implement OpenSearch for knowledge retrieval and search - Configure Contact Lens for transcription, sentiment, and analytics - Build APIs and integrations between web chat, Connect, and AI services - Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and documentation - Help enforce data privacy, PII protection, and AI safety guardrails Requirements - 2–4 years of software development experience (Python preferred) - Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and cloud-based development - Experience with Amazon Connect (contact flows, routing, or integrations) - Exposure to Lex V2 or conversational AI tools - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git - Basic understanding of cloud security (IAM, encryption, logging) - Strong communication skills and ability to work on a collaborative team Nice to Have - Experience with Bedrock, LLMs, or prompt engineering - Exposure to RAG, OpenSearch, or vector search - Experience with Contact Lens or Amazon Q in Connect - Knowledge of CloudFront, WAF, or web integrations - Familiarity with FISMA/FedRAMP environments - AWS certifications Ref: #851-Rockville-S1
