Senior AI Engineer - Contract £700–£1500 per day (Depending on skillset)
Location: London (Hybrid/Remote)
Duration: 6-12 Month Contract
IR35 Status: Outside IR35
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Senior AI Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. You will be instrumental in the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of advanced, production-grade AI and Machine Learning systems that are central to our product strategy.
This is a hands-on technical role for a "doer" who thrives on solving complex, real-world problems with cutting-edge AI. You will be given significant autonomy to drive projects from concept to deployment, working with a small, agile team of specialists to deliver high-impact features.
What you will do
• Lead the architecture and implementation of scalable AI/ML systems, including LLM-powered applications and agentic workflows.
• Design and optimise robust Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and vector databases to power our AI features.
• Develop, fine-tune, and benchmark large language models (LLMs) and other deep learning models for specific use cases.
• Spearhead the design and development of API and backend services to integrate AI capabilities into our core platform.
• Create and maintain production-grade MLOps pipelines to ensure reliable deployment, monitoring, and scaling of machine learning models.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and domain experts, to define requirements and translate business challenges into technical AI solutions.
What we are looking for
• Experience: Extensive commercial experience as a Senior AI/ML or Backend Engineer, with a proven track record of shipping production-level AI features.
• Expertise:
• Expert proficiency in Python and modern API development (e.g., FastAPI, Flask).
• Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Proficiency with AI orchestration tools and libraries like LangChain, Haystack, or LlamaIndex.
• Deep understanding of MLOps, including containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Platform Knowledge: Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for AI model deployment and management.
• Attributes: A self-motivated, proactive mindset with the ability to take ownership and deliver results in a fast-paced, autonomous environment.
Why join us?
This is a chance to make a significant and lasting impact at the forefront of AI innovation. You will work on challenging and meaningful projects with a high degree of technical freedom, using the latest technologies. Our flexible, remote-first approach allows you to work from anywhere in the UK, with optional access to our London-based hub.
How to apply
If you are a driven Senior AI Engineer looking for a high-impact contract role, please submit your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience.
