Role description
Geospatial Engineer Duration: 3 Months Location: Remote Rate: £475 - £525 per day DOE Status: OUTSIDE IR35 Clearance: N/A Start Date: ASAP Summary: My market leading client are looking to secure the services of a Geospatial Engineer to assist with critical project work over the coming months. Ideally coming from a consultancy background, previous experience working in the Public Sector and knowledge/understanding of GDS assignments is essential. Key Responsibilities: • Designing, building, and optimising FME workbenches to support transformation from vector overlays to grid/hex-based data processing. • Collaborating with our GIS/engineering team to understand requirements and translate them into efficient, maintainable FME workflows. • Implementing data transformation, validation, and automation processes to ensure accuracy and scalability of suitability models. • Advising on best practices in FME performance tuning, modular workflow design, and reusability of components. • Supporting integration with ArcGIS Pro plugins and ensuring compatibility with downstream analytical workflows. • Providing knowledge transfer, documentation, and mentoring to internal staff as required. Key Skills/Experience: • Proven experience delivering complex FME workflows in production environments. • Strong knowledge of geoprocessing methods and spatial data structures, including vector, raster, and gridded/hexagonal approaches. • Familiarity with suitability modelling or spatial multi-criteria analysis (SMCA) highly desirable. • Hands-on experience integrating FME with Esri ArcGIS Pro and related geospatial ecosystems. • Ability to troubleshoot, optimise, and restructure legacy FME workbenches. • Strong understanding of spatial data formats, ETL processes, and geospatial data management. • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
