Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled GIS Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing spatial data, developing GIS solutions, and supporting day-to-day mapping, data maintenance, and analysis tasks for a federal program. This role requires expertise in GIS software, data management, and scripting to deliver accurate and insightful geographic information. The successful candidate will contribute to various projects by leveraging advanced analysis skills and technical knowledge in geospatial technologies.
Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and update GIS databases using relational databases and data modeling techniques.
Perform spatial analysis and data visualization to support land surveying, construction planning, and project execution.
Utilize ArcGIS, AutoCAD, CAD, and other GIS tools to create detailed maps, drafting, and technical drawings.
Manage data collection efforts through GPS devices, sensors, and APIs to ensure accurate geographic information.
Write scripts using Python, JavaScript, or other scripting languages to automate workflows and enhance data processing.
Integrate GIS data with APIs and SharePoint for seamless data sharing and collaboration across teams.
Support land surveying activities by analyzing GPS data and providing precise mapping solutions.
Lead or collaborate on projects involving data analysis skills, project management, and technical leadership.
Ensure quality control of spatial data through rigorous analysis skills and adherence to standards.
Assist in training team members on GIS tools such as ArcGIS, SQL databases, and data visualization techniques.
Experience
Proven experience working with GIS software such as ArcGIS and CAD platforms like AutoCAD.
Strong background in land surveying, GPS technology, and construction-related GIS applications.
Proficiency in SQL, relational databases, data management systems, and data collection methods.
Familiarity with scripting languages including Python, JavaScript, and API integration for automation tasks.
Demonstrated ability in data analysis skills, data modeling, and creating compelling visualizations for diverse audiences.
Experience managing projects involving GIS technology from conception through implementation.
Knowledge of project management principles within geospatial contexts is a plus.
