GIS Analyst / Specialist / Engineer

Job Title: GIS Analyst / Engineer Location: Hybrid – 4 days onsite in NYC (zip 10004), 1 day remote Schedule: 35–40 hours per week, 12-month contract (1099 or C2C) Role Overview We are seeking a GIS professional to support enterprise asset management initiatives, with a focus on improving data quality, developing GIS applications, and supporting transportation engineering projects. Key Responsibilities Write code and perform geospatial analysis to meet business needs Develop maps, dashboards, and reports (Power BI, GIS tools, automated emails) Apply quality controls to ensure data accuracy and usability Break down complex requests into clear, solvable tasks Document processes for both technical and non-technical audiences Stay current with GIS software, programming languages, and data science methods Required Skills & Experience 5–10 years of GIS development experience Hands-on experience with ESRI tools (ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise, Portal, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Desktop), Hexagon, and Microsoft products Strong coding skills in Python and SQL (R or Java is a plus) Experience with database design, data management, and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication skills – able to explain technical work to non-technical staff Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Statistics, Math, Information Management, or related field Preferred Background Transportation or transit industry experience (rail or bus systems) Familiarity with transportation planning concepts and KPI development Job Types: Contract, Temporary Pay: $70.00 - $90.00 per hour Benefits: Flexible schedule Work Location: Hybrid remote in New York, NY 10004
