Role description
GIS Technical Analyst
Duration: 24 Months (with a possibility of extension)
Location: Jackson, MI (Hybrid)
Local to Michigan only.
Job Requirement:
• Provide mapping and data services to support client's Forestry operations.
• Collect, manage, and maintain operational data to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
• Develop business processes, mapping applications, and tools that enhance forestry work management.
• Collaborate with client Forestry and client Apps & Analytics to design and implement a new work management solution.
• Support existing software platforms during the transition period, ensuring continuity of operations.
• Evaluate current technology solutions and develop a transition plan to move from legacy systems to new platforms.
• Implement both the transition plan and long term sustainment plan for new technology solutions.
• Serve as a cross functional subject matter expert, troubleshooting complex technical issues and integrating data across systems.
• Create and maintain reports, queries, and data integrations that support operational decision making.
Other tasks as required.
• Strong understanding of GIS, mapping tools, and spatial data management.
• Experience with data collection, data governance, and workflow design.
• Ability to analyze business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Familiarity with work management systems, application development concepts, and system integrations.
• Strong problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Effective communication skills for working with cross functional teams and end users.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and support both legacy and emerging technologies during transition periods.
• Knowledge of forestry operations or natural resource management is beneficial but not required.
