Job Title: GIS Data AnalystLocation: Remote (USA)Openings: Multiple
Overview
We are hiring multiple contract GIS Data Analysts for a short-term project focused on importing, validating, and standardizing county-level data aligned with the NENA Next Generation 911 standard. This role is fully remote and does not involve cartography, map production, or spatial feature editing. Analysts will work primarily within geospatial databases and tabular data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Responsibilities
Receive, review, and transfer geographic data into GIS databases while determining appropriate data attributes, structure, and layout.
Map data, run QA tests, and import GIS datasets (including county-level data) from original sources.
Develop and refine GIS data schemas to align with business requirements and industry standards.
Normalize and standardize geospatial datasets for accuracy, consistency, and scalability.
Analyze attribute tables and relational structures to identify inconsistencies, gaps, and data quality issues.
Perform quality assurance, validate datasets, resolve anomalies, and generate alternative data formats as needed.
Use imagery or supporting files to validate and verify datasets.
Support data migration, transformation, and validation in GIS and SQL environments.
Execute database queries to troubleshoot issues or support analysis needs.
Collaborate with technical teams to integrate GIS datasets into enterprise systems, workflows, and reporting tools.
Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Document data models, metadata, processes, and best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelorβs degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience with Datamark VEP cloud-based solutions preferred.
Strong understanding of data modeling, normalization, relational databases, and geospatial data structures.
Ability to interpret and troubleshoot complex attribute tables and geospatial relationships.
Experience with Python, SQL, ModelBuilder, or similar data transformation tools.
Experience managing enterprise geodatabases and large geospatial datasets.
Knowledge of spatial data types, indexing, and database optimization.
Familiarity with ETL workflows, automation, or data integration processes.
Experience developing metadata, documentation, and standardized workflows.
High attention to detail and strong commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
