Job Summary
geoConvergence is looking for a GIS Analyst with a focus on ArcGIS Indoors and facility mapping to join our growing team of GIS professionals. You will work closely with a small team of highly motivated colleagues to assist with the design, development, and maintenance of geospatial and indoor mapping applications.
In this role, you will help create, organize, and visualize facility and floor plan data for schools, public agencies, and other organizations. This includes preparing CAD, BIM, LiDAR, and floor plan data for Indoors deployment, configuring maps and applications, and supporting projects that enhance safety, security, and facility management.
You will support other personnel in utilizing GIS and Indoors applications, interface with clients and partners, and contribute to continuous improvement of our workflows. Position Responsibilities
Data Development & Management
· Create, manage, and analyze spatial and non-spatial datasets to support facility, planning, and emergency response projects.
· Acquire, process, and prepare spatial, CAD, BIM, and LiDAR data for integration into ArcGIS Indoors information models.
· Georeference and manually digitize site maps and floor plans when CAD or GIS data is unavailable.
· Digitize and attribute floor plans, assets, and points of interest from CAD, BIM, or scanned data sources.
· Maintain and update high-quality geodatabases (file, enterprise, or hosted) with standardized schemas, metadata, and versioning practices.
· Ensure all Indoors data adheres to Esri standards and internal data governance/playbook specifications.
GIS Analysis, Visualization & Applications
· Perform spatial and facility-based analyses to support safety and security mapping, space utilization, and facility management solutions.
· Design and develop interactive 2D/3D web maps, dashboards, and geospatial applications using Esri technologies (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, Experience Builder).
· Develop and manage symbology, labeling, and map configurations for floor-aware environments.
· Generate detailed reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to support decision-making for internal and client stakeholders.
Application Configuration, Indoors & Deployment
· Configure and publish ArcGIS Indoors components, including Viewer and Space Planner applications.
· Integrate Indoors data with Esri web and mobile applications, including Dashboards, Field Maps, and Survey123.
· Assist with the publishing and maintenance of services in ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online, following best practices for performance and reliability.
· Collaborate with project managers and clients to test, validate, and deploy Indoors applications and related deliverables.
Automation, Workflows & Quality Assurance
· Develop, document, and maintain automated workflows and data processes using Python and geoprocessing tools (e.g., ModelBuilder).
· Perform QA/QC to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established GIS and Indoors standards.
· Document workflows, metadata, and project deliverables in alignment with company GIS playbooks and data governance guidelines.
· Participate in peer review processes to ensure deliverable consistency and reliability.
Collaboration & Support (Remote)
· Work collaboratively with project managers, solution engineers, and CAD/LiDAR specialists to meet project goals and timelines in a remote environment.
· Provide end-user training, technical assistance, and troubleshooting support for GIS and Indoors data models and applications.
· Participate in virtual client meetings, remote training sessions, and technical demonstrations as needed.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
· Research and help implement emerging Esri technologies and workflows (e.g., BIM integration, indoor positioning, automation scripts).
· Recommend and develop tools or processes to improve production efficiency and data quality.
· Contribute to Indoors and facility-focused GIS solution development and share best practices across the GIS team.
Qualifications
Required
· Proficiency with Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Online, including data analysis, publishing, and application configuration.
· Strong knowledge of Python for GIS scripting and automation (or demonstrated aptitude and willingness to grow this skill).
· Experience with data modeling, geodatabase design, and building efficient GIS workflows.
· Solid understanding of ArcGIS Enterprise/Online publishing workflows and best practices.
· Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot data, applications, and hardware/software issues.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
· A strong commitment to customer service, user support, and high-quality deliverables.
Preferred
· Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Architecture, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
· Two (2) or more years of professional GIS experience, preferably in facility mapping, spatial data development, or Esri Indoors solutions.
· Working knowledge of ArcGIS Indoors, including Space Planner, Viewer, and Floor Plan Editor tools.
· Experience georeferencing and manually digitizing site maps, CAD drawings, and scanned plans.
· Familiarity with Esri mobile applications, including Field Maps, Survey123, and Dashboards.
· Understanding of spatial databases, metadata management, and standard GIS data models.
· Knowledge of 3D visualization, symbology, and floor-aware mapping.
· Experience with CAD, LiDAR, BIM, or floor plan digitization workflows.
· Experience with GIS Indoors and proficient in ArcGIS Pro.
Certifications
Preferred certifications include:
· Esri Technical Certification (e.g., ArcGIS Desktop, Enterprise, or Indoors – Foundations or Associate level).
· Other relevant GIS or cloud certifications (e.g., GISP, AWS Cloud Practitioner) are a plus.
· Candidates without current certifications who are otherwise strong fits should have a willingness to obtain an Esri Technical Certification within 3–6 months of hire, with company support.
