Role description
Core Responsibilities: β€’ Develop and support GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software and mapping applications. β€’ Translate business needs into efficient geospatial software designs. β€’ Build interactive web maps using various web mapping technologies. β€’ Handle and manipulate geospatial data effectively. β€’ Automate GIS processes and customize GIS tools for specific project requirements. β€’ Collaborate closely with stakeholders, team members, and leadership to align project goals and deliverables. β€’ Ensure database designs meet the requirements of projects. Required Technical Skills: β€’ Strong experience with GIS software platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo). β€’ Proficiency in programming languages like Python, JavaScript, Java, C#, C++. β€’ Experience with web mapping APIs (ESRI, Leaflet, OpenLayers). β€’ Front-end web development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular, Vue). β€’ Working knowledge of spatial data formats, projections, cartography. β€’ Familiarity with cloud-based GIS platforms and cloud computing services. β€’ Use of version control tools like Git. β€’ Knowledge of Agile, SDLC, DevSecOps, and secure coding practices. β€’ Experience with cloud architecture and application lifecycle management tools. Experience and Educational Requirements: β€’ At least 5 years designing complex IT/GIS solutions. β€’ Leadership and team collaboration skills in a high-performance environment. β€’ Degree preferred in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or 4 extra years of experience without degree). β€’ Public Trust Clearance required; US Citizenship preferred but not mandatory. β€’ Must meet residency requirements (limited international travel in the last 5 years).
