Role description
Core Responsibilities:
β’ Develop and support GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software and mapping applications.
β’ Translate business needs into efficient geospatial software designs.
β’ Build interactive web maps using various web mapping technologies.
β’ Handle and manipulate geospatial data effectively.
β’ Automate GIS processes and customize GIS tools for specific project requirements.
β’ Collaborate closely with stakeholders, team members, and leadership to align project goals and deliverables.
β’ Ensure database designs meet the requirements of projects.
Required Technical Skills:
β’ Strong experience with GIS software platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo).
β’ Proficiency in programming languages like Python, JavaScript, Java, C#, C++.
β’ Experience with web mapping APIs (ESRI, Leaflet, OpenLayers).
β’ Front-end web development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular, Vue).
β’ Working knowledge of spatial data formats, projections, cartography.
β’ Familiarity with cloud-based GIS platforms and cloud computing services.
β’ Use of version control tools like Git.
β’ Knowledge of Agile, SDLC, DevSecOps, and secure coding practices.
β’ Experience with cloud architecture and application lifecycle management tools.
Experience and Educational Requirements:
β’ At least 5 years designing complex IT/GIS solutions.
β’ Leadership and team collaboration skills in a high-performance environment.
β’ Degree preferred in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or 4 extra years of experience without degree).
β’ Public Trust Clearance required; US Citizenship preferred but not mandatory.
β’ Must meet residency requirements (limited international travel in the last 5 years).
