Role description
Core Responsibilities:
• Develop and support GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software and mapping applications.
• Translate business needs into efficient geospatial software designs.
• Build interactive web maps using various web mapping technologies.
• Handle and manipulate geospatial data effectively.
• Automate GIS processes and customize GIS tools for specific project requirements.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders, team members, and leadership to align project goals and deliverables.
• Ensure database designs meet the requirements of projects.
Required Technical Skills:
• Strong experience with GIS software platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo).
• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, JavaScript, Java, C#, C++.
• Experience with web mapping APIs (ESRI, Leaflet, OpenLayers).
• Front-end web development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular, Vue).
• Working knowledge of spatial data formats, projections, cartography.
• Familiarity with cloud-based GIS platforms and cloud computing services.
• Use of version control tools like Git.
• Knowledge of Agile, SDLC, DevSecOps, and secure coding practices.
• Experience with cloud architecture and application lifecycle management tools.
Experience and Educational Requirements:
• At least 5 years designing complex IT/GIS solutions.
• Leadership and team collaboration skills in a high-performance environment.
• Degree preferred in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or 4 extra years of experience without degree).
• Public Trust Clearance required; US Citizenship preferred but not mandatory.
• Must meet residency requirements (limited international travel in the last 5 years).
