Role description
Title: Google Commerce Engineer / Developer
Employment: Contract to Hire
Location: Chicago, IL - Remote
Global Client recently assumed responsibility for a strategic Google Commerce initiative supporting a large enterprise client. The team requires experienced engineers who can design, build, and enhance cloud-native commerce applications running on Google Cloud Platform.
This role focuses on developing scalable, secure, and highly available commerce solutions supporting digital ordering, customer engagement, and business growth initiatives.
• First 30 DaysUnderstand existing commerce platform architecture
• Learn application integrations and business workflows
• Review current development backlog and delivery priorities
• Within 60 DaysDeliver enhancements to commerce applications
• Improve API integrations and platform performance
• Contribute to cloud-native development initiatives
• Within 90 DaysDeliver production-ready commerce capabilities
• Improve scalability and reliability
• Support modernization and future-state architecture initiatives
• Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop cloud-native applications on GCP
• Build APIs and integration services
• Support digital commerce workflows
• Enhance customer-facing applications
• Participate in architecture and design reviews
• Support CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment processes
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and engineering teams
