Health Plan Informatics Analyst Please no third party candidates for this role Remote - Must Reside in California Description The Health Plan Informatics Analyst supports data-driven decision-making across the organization by developing, analyzing, and visualizing health plan data. This role is responsible for leveraging tools like Tableau, Snowflake, and SQL to extract meaningful insights from complex healthcare datasets. The ideal candidate has experience working with Medi-Cal or other government-sponsored health programs, and a deep understanding of healthcare quality metrics, utilization patterns, and regulatory reporting requirements. What You Will Do • Develop and maintain data dashboards, analytical reports, and visualizations in Tableau to track performance and identify trends in member health outcomes, claims, and provider data. • Use SQL and Snowflake to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets from various source systems. • Collaborate with internal teams to define and document business requirements, ensuring alignment on analytics and reporting needs. • Conduct analyses supporting population health management, quality improvement (HEDIS, CAHPS, NCQA), and regulatory compliance. • Validate data quality and integrity; identify discrepancies and collaborate with technical staff to resolve them. • Provide ad hoc analyses and actionable recommendations to leadership, clinical, and operational teams. • Assist in developing standardized reporting methodologies and performance metrics for Medi-Cal and other lines of business. • Stay current on healthcare data trends, Medi-Cal guidelines, and evolving analytics best practices. What You Will Bring • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Public Health, Health Informatics, Statistics, • Computer Science, or related field. • Minimum 3+ years of analytics experience within a health plan, healthcare provider, or related environment. • Proficiency in Tableau (dashboard building, calculated fields, complex visualizations). • Strong command of SQL with experience querying and joining large datasets across multiple tables. • Hands-on experience with Snowflake in a health plan setting • Ability to translate complex data findings into clear, actionable insights. • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Preferred: • Experience working with Medi-Cal, DHCS reporting, or other state-based health programs. • Familiarity with claims, eligibility, and encounter data and healthcare quality reporting (e.g., HEDIS, UM, QI). • Knowledge of ETL workflows, data pipelines, or scripting (Python, R, or similar). • Master’s degree in a quantitative or healthcare-related field.
