Role description
Our government client is looking for an experienced Healthcare Data Analyst on a hybrid 12+ months renewable contract role in Indianapolis, IN.
Position: Healthcare Data Analyst
Job Overview
This role ensures that data submitted by healthcare providers is validated, standardized, and transformed into actionable insights. A strong foundation in T-SQL is essential for managing large data sets, troubleshooting data quality issues, and developing automated validation processes.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Perform data quality assessments on immunization records, including de-duplication, validation, and standardization.
β’ Write and optimize T-SQL queries to analyze, clean, and transform large healthcare datasets.
β’ Collaborate with providers, IIS staff, and public health partners to identify and resolve data submission errors.
β’ Develop data quality dashboards, reports, and performance metrics to track provider compliance and system accuracy.
β’ Support implementation of HL7 and IIS data exchange standards by validating message integrity and field mapping.
β’ Investigate data anomalies, troubleshoot submission issues, and recommend process improvements.
β’ Document data quality rules, methodologies, and best practices for internal and external stakeholders.
β’ Preparing reports for leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
β’ Perform other duties as assigned.
Required/Desired Experience
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Public Health, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience) Required
β’ 5 years of Strong proficiency in T-SQL (query writing, stored procedures, optimization, troubleshooting) Required
β’ 5 years of Experience working with large relational databases (SQL Server preferred) Required
β’ 5 years of Strong problem-solving skills with ability to analyze data issues and recommend corrective actions Required
β’ 5 years of Excellent communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders Required
β’ Familiarity with immunization registries (IIS), HL7 messaging, or healthcare data standards Highly desired
β’ Experience with reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) preferred Highly desired
β’ Knowledge of IIS data exchange standards (VXU, ACK, QBP) Highly desired
β’ Experience with data quality frameworks and record-matching techniques Highly desired
β’ Exposure to public health data systems or clinical data exchange Highly desired
