Job Summary
The Tandem Developer/Analyst is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining applications on the Tandem (HP Nonstop) platform. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyze business requirements, provide technical solutions, and ensure the stability and performance of Tandem-based systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Tandem systems, programming languages, and tools, along with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities
Development and Maintenance
β’ Design, develop, and maintain applications on the Tandem (HP Nonstop) platform.
β’ Write, test, and debug code using Tandem-specific programming languages such as COBOL, TACL.
β’ Develop and maintain Tandem-based batch and online transaction processing systems.
β’ Implement enhancements and fixes to existing Tandem applications.
Analysis and Design
β’ Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
β’ Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and stakeholders to understand project goals and deliverables.
β’ Design scalable and efficient solutions that align with business needs and IT standards.
β’ Testing and Documentation
β’ Develop and execute unit, integration, and system test plans.
β’ Document technical designs, processes, and procedures.
β’ Ensure compliance with company standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration and Support
β’ Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and end-users.
β’ Work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration with other systems.
β’ Participate in on-call rotations to support critical systems and resolve production issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Skills
β’ Strong experience with Tandem (HP NonStop) systems and tools.
β’ Proficiency in Tandem programming languages such as COBOL, TACL.
β’ Knowledge of Tandem database systems like Enscribe or SQL/MP.
β’ Familiarity with Tandem utilities such as Pathway, TMF, and Guardian.
β’ Experience with batch processing and online transaction processing (OLTP).
β’ Understanding of system performance tuning and optimization techniques.
Soft Skills
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
β’ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
β’ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
β’ Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Education and Experience

β’ Knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies.
