IBM Cognos Report Developer

IBM Cognos Report Developer Location: Davis, CA - Local candidate; onsite 1x/week Duration: 12 months+ Rate: $65 w2 or C2C (rate is firm) We are seeking a local IBM Cognos Report Developer for an onsite 1x/week opportunity supporting reporting and dashboard development. This role will focus on IBM Cognos, SQL, PeopleSoft HCM data, Oracle, and Amazon Redshift in a contract capacity. This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys owning reporting solutions end-to-end, collaborating with business and technical teams, and improving long-term reporting quality, performance, and maintainability. Contract Duration: 1 year+ Required Skills & Experience · 5+ years of hands-on experience developing, maintaining, enhancing, and supporting IBM Cognos reports and dashboards · Experience building and documenting Cognos reports based on Functional Design Documents, JIRA requirements, business user input, and existing reporting standards · Strong ability to translate business requirements into report design, including layout, look and feel, data access, prompts, filters, drill-throughs, and user interface behavior · Experience with PeopleSoft HCM data · Strong SQL skills using tools such as Oracle SQL Developer or DBeaver · Ability to develop and optimize advanced analytical queries in Oracle and Amazon Redshift databases · Experience investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving report defects, data discrepancies, query issues, performance issues, and production support items · Experience creating and executing test plans, test scripts, validation procedures, and unit testing for new and existing reports · Ability to perform data analysis across complex data sets, identify root causes, evaluate options, and propose practical solutions Desired Skills & Experience · Experience reviewing new and existing code and collaborating with technical and functional team members to resolve issues and deliver reporting solutions · Ability to work independently while collaborating with business users, developers, QA, data teams, and other stakeholders · Strong documentation skills, including report specifications, data mappings, testing results, and issue resolution notes · Ability to provide recommendations for report improvements, process enhancements, and long-term maintainability What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown · 50% IBM Cognos reports and dashboards · 25% SQL, Oracle, and Amazon Redshift · 25% PeopleSoft HCM data and reporting support Daily Responsibilities · 70% Hands On · 10% Management Duties · 20% Team Collaboration
