IBM WebSphere Commerce Engineer (SRE Environment) Location: Springfield, MO Duration: 12+ Months Experience Required: 6–8+ Years Work Mode: Onsite / As per Client Requirement Position Overview We are seeking an experienced L2 Application Support Engineer to provide operational support for a mission-critical WebSphere Commerce Suite (WCS) 8.x e-commerce platform. This role requires strong troubleshooting expertise, proactive monitoring, and incident management skills to ensure high availability, stability, and performance of enterprise e-commerce systems. Core Competencies • Digital: Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) • IBM WebSphere • Web Commerce Application Support (Must Have) Key ResponsibilitiesIncident Response & Troubleshooting • Respond to production incidents within defined SLAs. • Perform root cause analysis for application performance and functional issues. • Troubleshoot: • Order processing failures • Payment gateway issues • Checkout and cart/session management problems • Product catalog & inventory synchronization issues • Cache invalidation and performance bottlenecks • Analyze application logs and identify recurring issue patterns. • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams during escalations. Monitoring & Performance Management • Monitor WebSphere Commerce application health using tools such as: • AppDynamics • Dynatrace • Nagios (or similar APM tools) • Track KPIs including response times, throughput, and error rates. • Handle performance alerts during peak traffic. • Monitor scheduled jobs and batch processes. • Perform proactive system health checks. Application Operations & Support • Execute restart and recovery procedures for WCS components. • Perform cache invalidation and product refresh operations. • Monitor and troubleshoot feed file processing and data integrations. • Manage WCS scheduler and batch job processes. • Support multi-tier architecture environments. Required QualificationsTechnical Skills • 6–8+ years of overall IT experience. • 3–5 years in application support or technical support roles. • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with: • WebSphere Commerce Suite (WCS) 8.x (Mandatory) • Experience with databases: • DB2 • Oracle • SQL Server • Strong SQL fundamentals • Basic Linux/Unix command-line knowledge. • Knowledge of web technologies: • HTTP/HTTPS • Load balancers • Web servers • Experience with monitoring tools (AppDynamics, Dynatrace, etc.). Application Support Experience • Troubleshooting enterprise e-commerce applications. • Experience with: • Scheduled job monitoring • Batch process management • Feed file processing • Data integration workflows • Understanding of multi-tier application architecture. Operational Skills • Experience in 24x7 shift-based support environments. • Strong knowledge of ITIL processes: • Incident Management • Problem Management • Change Management • Experience handling escalations and coordinating vendor support. Key Competencies • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. • Ability to work under pressure in high-availability environments. • Excellent communication skills. • Proactive mindset aligned with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
