Role description
Hiring: Image Data Scientist Location: San Francisco, CA (Local-W2 candidates only) Duration: 12-Month Contract with possible extension We are seeking a talented Image Data Scientist to join our Digital Pathology team. This team is dedicated to transforming the analysis of digital histopathology slides by integrating advanced computational techniques into pathology workflows. You will play a key role in developing and applying image-processing methods and pipelines, leveraging both traditional approaches and state-of-the-art AI/ML techniques. This role requires close collaboration with pathologists, computational scientists, and data scientists to design and execute image analysis workflows that address critical biological questions. The ideal candidate is passionate about biomedical applications, thrives in interdisciplinary collaboration, and is eager to push the boundaries of digital pathology. Key Responsibilities: β€’ Develop and implement image-processing pipelines using conventional, machine learning, and deep learning approaches. β€’ Apply commercially available image analysis software to support pathology workflows. β€’ Perform statistical analyses and create clear data visualizations. β€’ Collaborate with pathologists to tailor image analysis workflows to biological questions. β€’ Partner with computational and data scientists across departments to develop new AI-powered image analysis algorithms. Essential Skills: β€’ Strong background in computer science with interest in biomedical sciences. β€’ Proficient programming in Python, including packages for image segmentation and statistical analysis. β€’ Ability to work in an iterative design process and incorporate frequent feedback. β€’ Strong communication and collaboration skills across disciplines. β€’ Enthusiasm for supporting and working closely with team members. Desirable Skills: β€’ Experience developing algorithms for whole slide image analysis in digital pathology. β€’ Familiarity with commercial digital pathology software (e.g., HALO). β€’ Background in biomedical microscopy and/or image analysis. β€’ Skills in R, MATLAB, and statistical methods. β€’ Proficiency with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Keras. β€’ Experience with Amazon EC2 or other cloud computing environments. Education: β€’ BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
