Are you passionate about making life science life changing and delivering impact for patients? We want to hear from you.
About the role:
The Insights team provides a central resource for LifeArc, researching and analysing the potential of translational life science opportunities. The team is responsible for detailed analyses across scientific, competition and intellectual property domains, delivering diligence and landscaping that informs on projects and on the strategic areas of future translational research for the charity. As such, it occupies a central role in shaping strategy, project selection and portfolio management, enabling LifeArc to achieve maximum patient impact. The team supports LifeArc Ventures and our Translational Challenges.
As an Insights Analyst you will be able to effectively and efficiently apply established processes to manage diligence projects for the Insights function, which operates across therapeutics, diagnostics, devices, and digital health, amongst others. This involves carrying out diligence according to predetermined processes and presenting the outputs to internal and external stakeholders to inform strategic decision making. Outputs of the diligence are presented to internal and external stakeholders to inform strategic decision making. Diligence produced may have a direct influence on the company portfolio. You will be expected to interact credibly with leading experts, scientists and clinicians within academia and the pharmaceutical industry and to work collaboratively with other teams within LifeArc. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to work in translational science and is considering a career path that would take them away from academic bench science. You will work across the range of LifeArc’s strategic Pillars, and Translational Challenges.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver diligence and landscaping analyses across a broad range of biomedical opportunities (e.g. therapeutics, diagnostics, platforms), typically under the guidance of Principals or Senior Analysts
• Contribute to defining the scope, key questions, and analytical approach for projects, translating ambiguous problems into structured analyses and clear outputs
• Produce high quality written outputs that clearly articulate the strengths and risks of an opportunity to support internal decision making
• Apply rigorous desk based research methods, synthesising scientific, clinical, translational, IP, and competitive information into coherent insights
• Work effectively with cross-functional teams across LifeArc, incorporating feedback to improve quality, relevance, and impact of analysis
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Insights ways of working, including templates, processes, and shared analytical resources alongside reasonable AI integration into processes
Essential education and experience required
• Educated to PhD level in a relevant life sciences discipline, or equivalent experience
• Strong general knowledge of biological and medical research, with the ability to rapidly understand and critique scientific information across diverse disease areas and modalities
• ‘Demonstrable interest in research translation from idea to clinical adoption, including drug discovery, diagnostics, and/or healthcare innovation
• Working understanding of the key stages and considerations in the development of novel therapeutics and/or diagnostics
• Experience conducting structured desk-based research and analysis, synthesising complex information into clear, evidence-based conclusions
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high quality work to deadlines
Desirable experience
• Exposure to technical, IP, or commercial diligence and/or competitive landscaping in a life sciences context (e.g. biotech, consulting, technology transfer, research funding, investment support)
• Experience working across multiple biomedical areas rather than a single deep specialism
• Experience presenting analysis to internal stakeholders and decision making forums and working in matrix environment
• Familiarity with engaging external experts or synthesising insights from expert input
Skills & abilities
• Critical thinker and fast learner, able to quickly grasp, interrogate, and synthesise new scientific and technical information
• Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail, with a high standard of accuracy and rigour
• Clear and confident communicator, able to concisely convey complex analysis in written and verbal formats
• Organised and adaptable, comfortable working in a fast paced environment and juggling competing priorities
• Collaborative and professional, working effectively across teams and responding constructively to feedback
• Demonstrates LifeArc’s principles of purpose, innovation, collaboration and commitment, with a clear focus on enabling patient impact through high quality insight
