Role description
Responsibilities: β€’ Application based sizing and selection of Instruments and Control devices required to operate and optimize complex mechanical and process system, including HVAC, Chilled Water, Compressed Air, etc. β€’ Create, review and update Controls engineering documentation and drawings. β€’ Initiate instrument datasheets, RFQ packages and perform technical bid evaluations to procure Controls devices. β€’ Work with vendors and contractors to review designs and ensure that they meet documentation standards. β€’ Participate in development of scalable network architectures for plant wide high reliability control systems. β€’ Work closely with HMI developers and programmers to optimize data exchange and enhance system usability. β€’ Support the Construction team and Contractors to optimally execute scopes of work. β€’ Generate construction drawings including 2D and 3D content to accurately define the installation scope of work. β€’ Provide expertise and support for system outages and failover incidents. Requirements: β€’ Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in an Engineering field β€’ 2-5 years of experience as a hands-on Controls Engineer or Instrumentation Engineer, Applications Engineer working on automation and/or electromechanical systems. β€’ Experience with control valve sizing, datasheet initiation and ANSI standards for Instrumentation. β€’ Review mechanical, process and plumbing drawings to properly size and select flow, pressure and temperature sensors. β€’ Familiarity with Controls based software like SPI (InTools) to initiate Instrument lists, wiring terminations, calibrated ranges etc. β€’ Configuration of controls networks including, β€’ Ethernet/IP, Profinet and Serial Communication β€’ Advanced knowledge of industrial process and manufacturing equipment, including safety system. Should be proficient in Siemens, Allen Bradly, or Beckhoff. β€’ Familiar with HMI – Ignition and Wincc is a plus. β€’ Experience in selecting appropriate circuit protectors, wire and cable, sensors, safety hardware, PLC hardware remote I/O, VFD and instrumentation, experience transitioning products and processes from concept to production is desired. β€’ Advanced proficiency in modern text-based programming languages (Python, Java, C, VB) and database systems (MSSQL, MySQL, Access) is a plus β€’ Worked with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
