Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Insurance Business Analyst with hands-on experience in Commercial Underwriting. The ideal candidate will have deep domain knowledge across commercial lines such as General Liability, Commercial Auto, Property, and Workers’ Compensation, and will serve as a critical liaison between underwriting teams, product managers, and technology stakeholders.
You will play a key role in transforming underwriting processes, defining business requirements, supporting platform enhancements, and ensuring successful delivery of underwriting systems and solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with underwriters, product teams, and operations to gather, document, and analyse underwriting requirements and pain points.
• Translate business needs into functional requirements, use cases, user stories, and process flows.
• Work with technology teams to support the design and implementation of underwriting systems, tools, and workflow automation.
• Drive initiatives to improve underwriting efficiency, decision-making, and compliance with underwriting guidelines.
• Participate in solution validation through UAT planning, test case development, and defect triage.
• Support change management, training, and rollout activities for new underwriting capabilities or process updates.
• Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure underwriting processes remain compliant and competitive.
Required Qualifications:
• 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in the commercial insurance industry.
• 3+ years of direct experience working with or supporting commercial underwriting teams.
• Strong understanding of commercial insurance products and workflows including GL, Auto, Property, Workers’ Comp, and Excess/Umbrella.
• Experience with policy administration systems (e.g., Guidewire PolicyCenter, Duck Creek, or equivalent).
• Proficiency in documenting business and functional requirements in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with submission intake, appetite and eligibility, risk assessment, and referral workflows.
• Familiarity with underwriting workbench platforms, rating models, and third-party data integration.
• Experience supporting digital transformation or legacy modernization efforts in underwriting.
• Knowledge of ISO/NCCI rules and regulatory compliance in commercial lines.
