Role description
Interim Data & Analytics Lead We are supporting a confidential organization with an interim leadership need across data, BI, and analytics operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can step into an existing data environment, provide steady day-to-day direction, keep critical reporting dependable, and help the organization maintain continuity during a transition period. The right person is not coming in to overhaul everything on day one. The immediate priority is operational stability: protecting reporting commitments, supporting an existing technical team, managing data requests responsibly, and making sure the business continues to receive reliable information from its data platforms. There may also be an opportunity to provide input into the future direction of the data function, including data quality, architecture, analytics operations, and the organization’s evolving use of AI-enabled tools. What You’ll Do Lead day-to-day data, BI, and analytics operations during an interim period. Keep critical reporting, recurring dashboards, data feeds, and operational analytics running reliably. Support an existing data engineering / analytics team by helping prioritize work, remove blockers, and maintain delivery discipline. Oversee established pipelines, warehouse feeds, dashboards, and reporting workflows. Triage issues as they arise and help determine what should be fixed, deferred, retired, or escalated. Manage incoming reporting and data requests with judgment, balancing responsiveness with practical capacity. Maintain continuity in a regulated or compliance-sensitive data environment. Document the current operating picture so the permanent leader has clarity around systems, workflows, risks, dependencies, and team responsibilities. Provide thoughtful input on future data capabilities, including reporting architecture, data quality, semantic-layer concepts, and practical AI/ML opportunities. What We’re Looking For Experience leading or providing senior ownership across a data, BI, analytics, or data engineering function. Strong hands-on understanding of analytics operations, data pipelines, warehousing, dashboards, and reporting environments. Ability to keep operational and regulatory reporting reliable without creating unnecessary disruption. Experience supporting or leading technical team members through a transition period. Comfort working in a lean environment where prioritization, judgment, and follow-through matter. Familiarity with regulated, compliance-sensitive, or high-accountability data environments. Working knowledge of modern AI/ML concepts, data architecture, and knowledge-layer / semantic-layer ideas. A steady, low-ego leadership style with the ability to assess quickly, communicate clearly, and keep the team focused. What Makes This Role Interesting This is a meaningful interim assignment for someone who enjoys stabilizing an important data function, supporting a capable team, and helping an organization make good decisions during a period of change. The organization has an established reporting and analytics environment, active operational commitments, and future ambitions around more intelligent data architecture and AI-enabled capabilities. While this is an interim engagement, there may be potential for the role to evolve depending on organizational needs, fit, and long-term direction. Engagement Type Interim / contract engagement.
