Trans4mine, a leading mining consultancy, is seeking a highly experienced Inventory Controller (Independent Consultant) to join a client engagement on site in Southern Europe for up to a 6-month engagement. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with 15+ yearsβ experience in mining inventory management, looking to deliver transformational improvements and mentor local teams.
This is an on-site consulting position. Eligibility to work in the Schengen area is essential.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Inventory Planning & Control: Implement advanced inventory planning, forecasting, and cycle counting practices to improve accuracy and availability.
β’ Systems & Tools: Leverage ERP systems, such as Pronto Xi and SAP, along with WMS and barcode/RFID automation.
β’ Inventory Optimisation: Drive reduction in obsolescence, shrinkage, and excess stock using ABC analysis, FIFO, and JIT methodologies.
β’ Data & Reporting: Use Advanced Excel, Power BI, or Tableau to generate insights, track performance, and support decision-making.
β’ Team Development: Provide training and mentorship to local warehouse and inventory personnel, strengthening internal capability.
β’ Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with procurement, logistics, operations, and finance to align inventory with production needs.
β’ Process Improvement: Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S to streamline workflows and increase inventory turnover.
Ideal Candidate
β’ Experience: 15+ years in inventory control within the mining or heavy industrial sectors.
β’ Systems Expertise: Proficient in ERP systems, such as Pronto Xi or SAP, and modern inventory/WMS platforms.
β’ Leadership: Demonstrated success in training staff, managing change, and leading operational improvements.
β’ Analytical: Strong skills in Excel and data visualisation tools.
β’ Mobility: Eligible to work in Europe (Schengen zone); able to be on site in Southern Europe rotationally for the duration of the engagement.
β’ Independence: Self-directed, results-driven, and comfortable operating in a consultant capacity.
