Role description
OverviewWe are seeking a highly organized and analytical Inventory Specialist to manage and optimize our company's inventory processes. This role is critical in ensuring efficient supply chain operations, accurate stock levels, and seamless warehouse management. The ideal candidate will possess strong data analysis skills, experience with warehouse management systems, and a solid understanding of supply chain logistics. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to process improvements and strategic sourcing initiatives within a dynamic environment.
Duties
Oversee inventory control and management across multiple warehouse locations, ensuring stock accuracy and availability.
Utilize ERP systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and tools like Power BI, Tableau, and SQL for data collection, visualization, and analysis to inform decision-making.
Conduct root cause analysis to identify inventory discrepancies, shortages, or excesses, implementing corrective actions.
Collaborate with procurement teams on sourcing strategies, contract negotiations, and supplier management to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.
Manage demand planning and forecasting using supply chain analytics tools such as Nielsen, MRPs, and demand planning software.
Coordinate shipping & receiving, order fulfillment, materials handling, and logistics operations including 3PL providers.
Lead process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing inventory accuracy, reducing heavy lifting risks, and streamlining stocking procedures.
Perform financial modeling and pricing analysis related to procurement decisions and inventory valuation.
Ensure compliance with safety standards during materials handling and warehouse activities such as forklift operation.
Maintain detailed records of inventory transactions using AS400, ERP systems, or other relevant platforms.
Skills
Extensive experience in supply chain management, warehouse distribution, procurement, and inventory control.
Strong data analytics skills with proficiency in SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Data mining, Data visualization tools, and data analytics platforms.
Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems (including AS400), MRP software, and logistics operations.
Excellent negotiation skills for supplier contracts and sourcing negotiations.
Ability to perform root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives effectively.
Familiarity with materials handling equipment such as forklifts; ability to perform heavy lifting safely when necessary.
Analytical mindset with expertise in financial analysis, pricing strategies, demand planning, and supply chain analytics.
Experience in e-commerce logistics, retail management support systems, shipping & receiving processes, production planning, and materials management.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to analyze large datasets using tools like Nielsen or other market research sources for merchandising insights.
Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration across procurement, logistics, warehouse teams, and suppliers. This role is integral to maintaining optimal inventory levels while supporting strategic growth initiatives through advanced data analysis and process optimization techniques.
