Role description
Hybrid: Jira Engineer \_ San Jose, CA (hybrid 3 days a week) Customer Comments: (Must read) β€’ This team is a globally distributed Jira engineering group, with members based in India, the US, and Taiwan. β€’ The primary focus of the project is migrating multiple Jira Data Center instances to Jira Cloud, supporting a large enterprise user base of ~35,000 users. β€’ Alongside the migration, the team is: β€’ Developing new applications and customizations using Atlassian Forge to ensure cloud compatibility β€’ Modernizing existing on-premises Jira apps and adapting them for cloud environments β€’ Building web applications where required, either within Jira (via Forge) or externally β€’ Handling day to day Jira user support, with a dedicated support team managing requests β€’ Working on new use cases and feature development through a dedicated development team Overall, the role combines Jira Cloud migration, application development, and enterprise scale Jira support, offering exposure to both engineering and platform modernization work. Position Title: Jira Engineer Location: San Jose, CA (hybrid 3 days a week) The customer’s JIRA instance is highly complex and heavily customized. This role goes beyond standard JIRA administration and requires significant hands on experience in scripting, development, and large-scale migration activities. Key Skills: Jira Admin, Groovy Scripting, Post Migration Jira Admin: Candidate with migration (from Data Center to Cloud) experience, as post migration activities plays a key role in candidate's selection Knowledge of scripting languages such as Groovy, JavaScript, or Python is a plus Role Overview: The Jira Support Engineer will be responsible for administering, configuring, and supporting Jira environments for business and technical teams. This role requires strong Jira administration capabilities, including automation and scripting, along with solid organizational and communication skills to ensure smooth operations and user support. Technical Skills β€’ Hands on experience with Jira administration (minimum 3–5 years preferred). β€’ Strong understanding of Jira workflows, schemes, permission management, and configurations. β€’ Experience in Jira automation (Automation for Jira, ScriptRunner, or similar). β€’ Knowledge of scripting languages such as Groovy, JavaScript, or Python is a plus. β€’ Basic understanding of Confluence integration is preferred. Organizational & Functional Skills β€’ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. β€’ Ability to understand business processes and map them into Jira workflows. β€’ Strong communication and documentation abilities.
