Role description
Position Title: Business Analyst – Energy Management (Commodity Operations) Location: New York, NY (hybrid) Position Status: Contract Pay Rate:$36 on W2 Per hour Position Description Seneca Resources is seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst with strong technical and automation expertise to support an Energy Management Commodity Operations organization. This is a hands-on, execution-focused contract role where the Business Analyst will be embedded directly with business stakeholders and will own the full delivery lifecycle—from current-state assessment through solution design, development, testing, and implementation. In this role, you will work closely with Commodity Operations teams to analyze, optimize, and automate business processes supporting energy market operations. You will translate complex operational needs into actionable requirements, design and build automated solutions, and ensure successful adoption through documentation, testing, and knowledge transfer. This role is ideal for a Business Analyst who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, building solutions, and driving measurable operational improvements. Key Responsibilities • Partner directly with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and validate business and technical requirements • Assess and document current-state and future-state business processes, identifying automation and optimization opportunities • Translate business needs into clear functional and technical specifications, workflows, and data mappings • Design and implement solutions using Excel (VBA/Macros), Power Automate, and C# • Develop automation and workflow improvements to reduce manual effort and operational risk • Perform web scraping to acquire, validate, and integrate public business and market data • Create and maintain clear documentation, including business requirements, functional specs, process flows, and support materials • Develop and execute functional and QA test cases aligned with acceptance criteria • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensure successful implementation • Prioritize requirements and enhancements in collaboration with business partners • Provide knowledge transfer and transition support to ensure long-term solution sustainability Required Skills / Education • 3–4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role with a focus on business process automation • Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex processes and data • Proven experience documenting business and functional requirements with clear acceptance criteria • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel, VBA, and Macros • Hands-on experience with Power Automate for workflow and process automation • Proficiency in C# for implementing business logic and automated solutions • Extensive experience with web scraping and working with public data sources • Experience creating and executing functional and QA test cases • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred) About Seneca Resources At Seneca Resources, we are more than just a staffing and consulting firm—we are a trusted career partner.
